CORK LEGEND: The legend of the otter in the River Lee, flowing through Cork City, is a tale deeply rooted in the folklore of the region. According to local legend, a magical otter once inhabited the tranquil waters of the River Lee, captivating the hearts and imaginations of those who lived along its banks.

This otter was said to possess extraordinary powers, bringing luck and prosperity to those who encountered it. Tales were told of fishermen whose nets were mysteriously filled with an abundance of fish whenever the otter was spotted nearby, and of travelers who found safe passage across the river under its watchful gaze.

Indeed, in Cork folklore it's said if you spot an Otter in the River Lee; you'll remain in Cork city for the rest of your days! Pic of an otter I saw in the Lee...
