The Elizabeth Fort has been a vital part of Cork city since the 17th century. Just two years after
its construction, it was attacked by local citizens. It also served as a key site during the Siege of Cork in 1690. Over the years, the Fort has functioned as a convict depot for prisoners bound for Australia, a food depot during the Great Famine, and, more recently, as a police station.

Tours depart from the Tourist Information Office at St. Patrick’s Street. Tickets can be purchased on board from the driver and are valid for two consecutive days. You can hop on/hop off the bus as much as you wish.
