I never realised how big cuckoos (or loud)are until I spotted one in the garden last year! The Cuckoo Fleadh (music festival) celebrates their return from the far reaches of Africa to lay their eggs in another birds nest and have the substitute parents raise their chicks for them! Not a bad plan if you can get away with it😉 Susan

The gardens at Strokestown House are beautiful too & like all the ‘big houses’ back in the day supplied all the fruit & vegetables for the kitchen & even exoric species like melons, peaches & pineapples! Susan

Out and about in Roscommon at Strokestown House, home to Ireland’s Famine Museum with a unique collection of estate papers & artefacts that highlighted the divide between the rich and poor in the 19th century which led to mass emmigration from not just this area but the whole of the West of Ireland, Susan

Such a glorious day at Tullynally Castle last Sunday with my son Ross. A real Hidden Gem in the Magical Midlands of Ireland, we have been visiting as a family for years. Thomas Packenham is an authority on trees and has collected rare seeds from all over the world and successfully cultivated the most amazing arboretum which despite the recent storm losses still looks amazing in the warm Spring sunshine 🥰 Susan

Is this the best value cupán tae (cup of tea) in Ireland? It certainly has the best view! Lough Inagh Lodge in Connemara oozes old world charm & Irish hospitality at its best with the warmest of welcomes, an actual pot of tea with homemade shortbread for €2.50 (no charge for the view) 🤣 Susan

One of the highlights of Spring (and my tours) is visiting Killary Sheep farm overlooking the fjord in Connemara to see the newborn lambs and watch a sheepdog demonstration. It was all quiet yesterday with just a few pet lambs needing bottles & cuddles 🥰 Susan
