We have a million and 1 photographs and videos of people paddle boarding. Yet, very few were taken by a professional. We thought it was high time to change that. So, back at the start of the summer, we had great fun doing a shoot with @roxymediaireland on a classic Irish day, grey, but dry, but certainly not bright. The light was actually beautifully silvery. Sure, take a look at it yourselves! Does it make you want go paddle boarding?
What fun we had! What fun they had! Paddling in the sunshine with a gung-ho group of college students from @shuindingle really was a great way to kick off the summer.
The true definition of fun in the sun.

This time last year, we had a true Bucket List experience. Every Spring, these gentle giants migrate through Irish waters and you'll see reports of sightings across social media. Well, at the end of last year it finally happened for us. We paddled with Basking Sharks!
After no repeat experience this year, we now realise just how fortunate we were last year and how many different elements fell into place.
☀️The weather was good, meaning the plankton that the sharks feed on was close to the surface, bringing the sharks up from the depths.
🌍 We were in the right area at the right time.
🧑🤝🧑 Owen from Wild Atlantic Seaweed Baths was a helpful ally by giving us the heads up the sharks were around.
We are continuously grateful for last year's experience. And who knows, it may just happen again in future.
So why not come Paddle with us next Spring? We might just get lucky!!
Thank you @tadhg_obrien for the drone footage!

Hello everyone! It's been a while since we've introduced ourselves. So here goes...
Back in January 2016, Ed and I had the idea to start a stand up paddle board tour company in his home county of Kerry. We jumped on it and after a few wild years and lots of learning later, Roan entered the scene and made the LaceyBets a trio.
We love being outdoors. We love adventuring. We love hotsprings and seaweed baths. We love the mountains and the sea. We love wildlife and this planet we all call home. Ed loves surfing. I love exploring and Roan loves water in almost any form.
We are Wild SUP Tours!
Thanks @seanielordan for the rare family photo.
On Valentines day, 2024, we ran a press tour for the Wander Wild Festival on Muckross Lake. It was the first time stand up paddle was allowed on the Lakes in this fashion. Kelly Ann said it best "it was amazing, lashing rain but still so cool!"
We are absolutely stoked to be part of the Wander Wild Festival this March and we are so honoured to get to bring stand up paddle to the lakes of Killarney!
Get booking through the Wander Wild Website, because this is an amazing once off chance! https://wanderwildfestival.com/

We love paddling with adventurous gung-ho people! And these university students were just that. Having a blast in Ireland and ready to play. It was a pleasure to help facilitate and join in on their fun.
Thanks so much and good luck from all of us here at Wild SUP Tours and Brandon Adventures

Some days on the job are better than others. This was a particularly fantastic morning on Dingle Harbour.
We saw an ocean sunfish, a pod of common dolphins and a school of fish. The ocean was alive!
The ocean sunfish or mola, can grow to be 14 feet tall and weigh up to 2.5 tonnes. They are very curious and may approach but are completely harmless to humans. They are currently considered vulnerable as they are highly susceptible to plastic pollution and the fishing industry.
We were absolutely delighted to come across such a rare and beautiful animal. Who else wants to do they're part to help protect the ocean sunfish?

When we first set up Wild SUP Tours, we had a lot of conversations about us not necessarily being a SUP school but about SUP being our mode of exploration. Here is what I mean by that and why SUP is the best mode of exploration, in my humble opinion.
It's you, standing on the board, in the middle of nature. No boat walls between you and the wild. Nothing limiting your connection to the environment. You can jump in and swim whenever you like without having to awkwardly clamber back into a kayak. You can't run out of diesel or break down because it's you trusting your body to do the job. It gets you places you can't drive, walk or easily swim to.
SUP is also easy to do. Yes, you must approach it safely, but baring that, you can go out your first time and get the full experience. And if you fall in love, as many do, you can work on your SUP skills your whole life.
As Ed always says "sweeping, it's easy to do but hard to master." 😉
