👻October.31👻 Samhain is a Gaelic festival marking the end of the harvest season and beginning of winter or "darker-half" of the year.

👻The early literature says Samhain was marked by great gatherings and feasts and was when the ancient burial mounds, which were seen as portals to the Otherworld, were opened.

👻Samhain was a liminal or threshold festival, when the boundary between this world and the Otherworld thinned, meaning the Aos Sí (the 'spirits' or 'fairies') could more easily come into our world. The souls of dead kin were also thought to revisit their homes seeking hospitality, and a place was set at the table for them during a Samhain meal.

👻Mumming and guising were part of the festival from at least the early modern era, whereby people went door-to-door in costume reciting verses in exchange for food. The costumes may have been a way of imitating, and disguising oneself from, the Aos Sí.

👻In the 9th century the Church had shifted the date of All Saints' Day to 1 November and 2 November later became All Souls' Day. It is believed that over time Samhain and All Saints'/All Souls' influenced each other and eventually syncretised into the modern "Halloween".

Did you know the origin of Halloween?

👻For the Celts this day marked the end of the season of Sun and the beginning of the season of Darkness.
It was believed that on Samhain the borders between this World and the Otherworld opened, allowing the spirits to pass through.

👻Costumes and decorations are a kind of way of imitating and disguising oneself from the spirits.

👻Do you like Halloween atmosphere?🦇

🌾"Mabon" celebrates the autumnal equinox.

🌾The name "Mabon" comes from the Welsh God, who was the son of the Celtic Earth Mother Goddess, Modron.

🌾Mabon is the dark god of the second harvest. According to the mythical epic of 'Culhwch and Olwen', as a child Mabon was kidnapped, imprisoned and later freed and transformed into a young god. His story symbolises the Autumn Equinox: as Mabon disappeared into the darkness and later returned, so are the Sun and nature's energy disappearing, to regenerate and later be reborn.

🌾September.22🌾In the northern hemisphere, today is the autumnal equinox.

🌾It also celebrates the mid-harvest festival (also known as the second harvest). This time of year is when farmers know how well their summer crops did, and how well fed their animals have become. This determines whether you and your family would have enough food for the winter. That is why people used to give thanks around this time, thanks for their crops, and animals, and food.

🌾It is time of rest after the labour of harvest.

🌾It is the moment of reaping what you have sown, time to look at the hopes and aspirations and reflect on how they have manifested.
It is time to let go that which is no longer needed as we prepare for descent, so that the winter can offer a time for reflection and peace.
And it is time to plant seeds of new ideas which will lie dormant but nourished in the dark, until the return of Spring.

Today we'll discover📍Trim Castle, Co.Meath. It is the largest, best-preserved and most impressive Anglo-Norman castle in Ireland.

🏰 Trim get its name from the Irish 'Baile Átha Troim' , meaning ‘Town of the Ford of the Elder Trees', indicating that this was an important fording point on the River Boyne.
-Such was the significance of this crossing point that by the fifth century a chieftain's dún (fort) and an early monastery were sited here-

🏰Trim Castle was built In 1172, shortly after the arrival of the Anglo-Normans in Ireland. King Henry II granted his baron Hugh de Lacy the Kingdom of Meath.

🎶On 25 September 1976, Bono, David Evans, his brother Dik Evans, and Adam Clayton responded to an advertisement on a bulletin board at Mount Temple posted by fellow student Larry Mullen Jr. seeking people interested in forming a rock band.

🎶The band had occasional jam sessions in which they did covers of other bands.

🎶They played quite often in Temple Bar, but sometimes the director of the Clarence Hotel was angry because "these guys playing songs" disturbed his hosts, so Bono promised to himself to buy that hotel one day!

🎶The hotel was finally bought by Bono, the U2guitarist The Edge and their business partners in 1992.

🎶They refurbished the two-star 70-room hotel, and converted it into a "contemporary boutique" 49-room hotel.

📍The Giant's Causeway is an area of about 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, most of them are perfectly hexagonal!

🌋Geologically they are the result of an ancient volcanic fissure eruption. Around 50 to 60 million years ago, during the Paleocene Epoch, Antrim was indeed subject to intense volcanic activity.
