O.M.G! We’re taking it back to ‘09 this refreshers week with for our recession pop club night! Ignore the pressing weight of never getting a home or retirement with some of the best music from the late naughties to early 2010s. Be there or else I’ll write a scathing takedown of your outfits on MySpace and Facebook, photos included.

Fun Fact! Barack Obama used my space to campaign for his 2008 presidential race, that MySpace account walked so the cesspool of politicians on twitter could run!

Is this… a post. For an event. Over a week away?????? Do not be afraid dear mortals; it is simply the announcement of the first event of refreshers week! (Don’t get used to this amount of warning before)

Have you ever wished to be surrounded by a group of insanely competitive people, all competing in seemingly meaningless trials while progressively becoming losing what loose grip on reality they had? Me too, but we spent all of the budget for running the trinity edition of squid games on committee brunch; this is the closest we could get 😔.We’re kicking refreshers off strong this year with B.Y.O.B. Boardgames on Monday (think 🥂🍾🍻🍹 not 🃏🧩🎲♟️ for the second B). Ruin your liver while dominating your peers in games of chance! (committee acknowledge that if we took a dry janurary pledge we’d be too insufferable, so us choosing not to do it is rlly a public service). You should all come, if only to watch an absolute god at scrabble in action.

Xoxo

Ah, the new year. A time for new beginnings and reflections, in our case on the greatest semester of society events ever thrown. Who could forget our countless postponed panel discussions (we promise they’re coming soon guys, and let’s just say they’re worth the wait 😳) or our iconic collaborations with societies almost as sexy as us? In a smashing return from a hiatus, allow me to illustrate some of the events that didn’t quite make the cut for this beautiful collage (read - I did a pretty shoddy job as PRO and had too much fun at these events and forgot to actually take many photos )(☹️ but also 😊 because the events were fab)

Here at Pol Soc HQ, we understand the importance of discretion. As I always like to say, what happens on a pol Soc night out, stays on a pol Soc night out. Pol Ball, Pirate Night, Chappell Night and the famous lock-in will live forever on in our memories 😌, as some of the very few enjoyable student night outs ever thrown by a political/trinity society!

We debated! Twice! (The only photographic evidence I could find was taken by my mother, and god bless her but I will not be exposing the new horrifying angles of myself and the late secretary she discovered). Pol Soc enthusiasts will remember your ever humble PRO was on the winning side of their debate. ( I will link the debates in the bio as soon as the Hist and Phil upload them, if they have already I will link it in the morning and this whole segue was for naught)

We also had many mornings of delicious coffee and sweet treats at caffeinated conversations, but I was too busy munching to document them. If you want to devour some biblically gorgeous biscuits, don’t worry - our librarian has promised me they are making a return next semester (time tbc)

Ofc, I cannot forget stance launch party! Go reread stance right now guys

There are defo events I missed in this brief summary, but Instagram hates women and limits these captions to 2,200 characters. If you were at those missing events, I’m sure you have lovely memories of your own. And if you weren’t? 🤨 Why weren’t you? Do better next semester, I’ll be keeping an eye out

xoxo,

Ps, does anyone acc read these?

God gives his strongest soldiers his toughest battles. Hence why we are all college students in the month of November. Want a refuge from the library and to escape your crumbling sense of academic worth!? Come to caffeinated conversations from 2.30-3.30 tomorrow for free biscuits and coffee. (And you can talk about politics too if you’re into that)

Wow, only 14 days to go to the General Election!! Whether you’re a diehard youth party member or still on the fence, this event can’t be missed. Pol Soc has invited a mix of election candidates and representatives from all major parties to put their case forward as to why they deserve your vote. There are over 250,000 students in Higher Education in Ireland yet there is consistently a lack of attention paid to issues that impact students. Pol Soc decided that we wanted to do something about this (the heroes that we are) so we have decided to focus our general election debate on Student Issues!! Whether you want to air your grievances about disappearing buses or 4 figure monthly rents, the Robert Emmet Theatre at 8pm on Monday is the place to be!

Even better, if you’d like to submit a question to be asked to all parties or a specific party, fill in the following form:

(just make sure to use your TCD email)
