Waterside Guesthouse

Waterside Guesthouse Waterside Guesthouse & Restaurant Waterside is a carefully converted 19th century granite cornstore.
(56)

We operate 10 ensuite bedrooms overlooking the river Barrow in the heart of Graiguenamanagh. The building has a preservation order and that seems sensible when you see the lovely granite stone in the corridors and feature wooden beams in each bedroom. On the ground floor we have a comfy restaurant with seating for 45 guests.

2012 was exciting with the launch of our Waterside Bike & Hike rental se

We will be finishing our 25th season at Waterside this Sunday afternoon. A huge thank you to Alice Savage and Betty Kavanagh who have been at the heart of everything we do at Waterside since we first arrived in Graiguenamanagh in Summer 1998. I hope these Cushendale blankets keep them warm during our annual winter hibernation, and ready for action again in Spring 2024.

Waterside Graiguenamanagh are happy to encourage as many people as possible to support former oarsman Mark Po***ck in his groundbreaking work with
www.runinthedark.org/kilkenny 15 November 2023

"Sometimes it's hard to put one foot in front of the other - but when you have a reason to do it, nothing is impossible." - Mark Po***ck As darkness sweeps around the globe in mid-November, 25,000 people worldwide will get up from their armchairs, slip on their red flashing armbands and pull on their running shoes to complete a 5k or 10k at Run in the Dark.
Some will run for fun, some to compete and others will run for those who dream to walk again after paralysis.
Former adventure athlete, Mark Po***ck, who is now blind and paralysed, holds Run in the Dark - www.runinthedark.org/register - in 50 cities worldwide every year to fund his mission to cure paralysis in our lifetime.
Give yourself a reason to put one foot in front of the other by watching this video at www.runinthedark.org/whyrunvideo and register today at one of the 50 in-person events worldwide or via their AppRun to do it virtually.

There will be hundreds of stories behind why everyone has chosen to take part in Run in the Dark; for some it's a chance to run a personal best or catch up with friends, for others it's about raising money to improve the life of a family member.

We are posting this photo because many people are not aware there is currently a public consultation process taking place for the Graiguenamanagh Tinnahinch flood relief scheme. Although the scheme purports to offer 5 different options they are in fact all very similar and all feature a four and a half foot wall the entire length of the Quay at Graiguenamanagh from the bridge to the boathouse. Our business is one severely impacted by flooding in the past ten years, but in no way could we support a wall along the Quay irreparably damaging the character of Graiguenamanagh. Yes we want flood protection, but there are only about seven buildings along the Quay heavily impacted by floodwater, these can be individually protected and let the road flood a day or two every few years as has been the case. Building a wall will damage Graiguenamanagh for every day of the year in perpetuity. Send the consultants back to the drawing board, have your say by registering free on Kilkenny County Council website where the options for the flood relief scheme can be viewed. URGENT - there is only a week left to make a submission and have your voice heard.
