The main goal of my tours is to have some fun and maybe teach people a little history on the way. I do tours from canal square, just past the hurling statue all year round, just give me a call or message me to book.
After a very busy summer of tours and tournaments things are starting to quiet down but to end the summer with a bit of a bang today I was filming with Carina and Farah from Sweden for their show Drömlandet (Dreamland). As well a massive thanks to Joe from for coming down and helping me show a bit of the sport I love.

Wow! What a weekend at Timahoe Heritage Festival. Big thanks to everyone who came by for a chat and to get pictures with all the Medieval kit. Also massive thanks to Fragarach Armoured Combat for all the help over the weekend and Caroline Breathnach for all the photos. Kilkenny is such a beautiful medieval city and what way is better to experience it than a guided tour through the most history soaked parts by a guide who comes in an authentic functional suit of armour! He had such an in dept knowledge of the city and its unique history I must recommend this tour! I was thoroughly entertained from start to finish and Dylan recommended a wonderful restaurant for us to eat in afterwards, he truly knows his city!
Looking forward to returning to the Timahoe Heritage Festival this year on the 1st and 2nd of June and this year Fragarach Armoured Combat will be joining me for some fighting and fun over the weekend.

All About Knight For Hire
Hi, I’m Dylan, The Knight For Hire. I am a qualified tour guide doing walking tours of Kilkenny dressed in armour. You’ll often find me around the Parade and Canal square. The main goal of my tours is to have fun and maybe learn some history on the way. While I failed history in school, I came to love it later in life after training to fight in armour and taking part in competitions as part of medieval armoured combat Ireland, so I have a unique perspective on history to share.
Next Saturday I will be taking part in THE BIG PUSH over in Kilmoganny to help raise money for the Carlow/Kilkenny homecare team. I'll be the one in armour pushing a wooden horse😉🤣🤣🤣. Please support by donating or attending the fund raiser on the day, its a really deserving cause.

Suitable for all ages this fairly relaxed walking tour takes about an hour

Yesterday I took part in Fragarach's climb of Ticknock in armour to raise money for Arc cancer support. Please check out the fundraiser at https://www.idonate.ie/fundraiser/MedievalArmouredCombatIreland
Earlier this year a long time fighter, member and friend lost a family member to cancer.
On Saturday the 25th of November members from our club will be climbing to the summit of three rock mountain, some wearing armour, in order to support the charity Arc Cancer Support Centres.
On the same day other clubs from across the country including our good friends will similarly be hiking mountains in armour for this worthy cause.

I will be taking part in Steely Determination - Fight Against Cancer, A fundraiser where members of Medieval Armoured Combat Ireland will be hiking up various mountains around Ireland on the 25th of November to raise money for ARC Cancer Support Centres and the Irish Cancer Society. Please support if you can and share as much as possible.

No tours for the weekend folks, on my way to the Claregalway shield for a weekend of camaraderie and combat with fighters and friends from across the globe. Hope too see a few of you there and return with a few more tales to tell.
It's closing in...... Our highlight of the year will be to host our very own international tournament "The Claregalway Castle Shield" on September 2nd and 3rd. Location will be Claregalway Castle with Dueling (1v1) on Saturday and the mayhem that is Bohurt (group fights) on Sunday. We cannot recommend enough to come along if you have any questions about getting involved in the sport or just to spectate. To get involved there's a job for everyone, wether that be fighting, hit counting, marshalling , medic the list goes on (no pun intended).

As promised here's the first video of my fights in Malbork. It our team from Medieval Armoured Combat Ireland consisting of Me (foreground), Kyle de Souza-wearen (middle) and David Maher (background) vs 3 of the fighters from the polish team.
