A pleasure having anglers from Kingfishers Béal Feirste on board at the weekend for some great species fishing.

The fish of the day, a near specimen Tub Gurnard weighing 4lb and measuring 58cm.

Overall plenty varieties of fish including Mackerel, Sand Eel, Po***ck, Coalie, Ling, Whiting, Haddock, Cuckoo Wrasse, Bluemouth, Red, Grey and Tub Gurnards, Megrim, Spurdog and Poor Cod.

Thanks lads for a great trip.

Early start this morning, completing the journey from Downings to Kincasslagh after an exciting week chartering for the World Boat u21 Angling Championships.

To break up the journey a stop at the Tory Island Hotel was in order for some good food and a bed for the night.

Some good fishing over the weekend with Mackerel making a welcome return. Both weekend Day Charters produced 15 varieties of fish each day with 5 anglers catching 10 or more varieties.

Po***ck, Coalie, Whiting and Mackerel were plentiful. Other varieties included Sand Eel, Scad, Cod, Dogfish, Red, Grey and Tub Gurnards, Haddock, Ling, Pouting, Poor Cod, Thornback Ray, Ballán and Cuckoo Wrasse.

There are a few days of settled weather approaching and tomorrow, Tuesday afternoon some individual spaces are available on a Half Day Fishing Charter.

It was a pleasure to present the Species Competition prize of 2023 to Bertie on his return for a fishing charter out of Kincasslagh.
Bertie caught a total of 18 varieties of fish last year on board MV Caitlín Marie making this his 3rd time to claim the title 🎣🎣🎣.

Fishing has been going well lately with plenty Po***ck and Coalie on the reefs. Mackerel are starting to appear though a little patchy. A good variety of fish are showing on recent outings including an extremely rare catch of a Short Spined Sea Scorpion pictured. Although the fish wasn't weighed or measured, it is estimated to be near the Specimen length of 27cm.

This trip produced 11 varieties of fish including Mackerel, Po***ck, Coalie, Cod, Whiting, Haddock, Ballán Wrasse, Pouting, Poor Cod, Red Gurnard and Grey Gurnard.

Last weekend produced 8 varieties including a Ling, Megrim and Herring.

A glorious winters day on the water today and the first fishing trip of 2024.

Po***ck and Coalie were plentiful on the Offshore reefs where a few decent Ling, Cod and Bluemouth completed the species tally.

A quick drift over clean ground on the way home produced Whiting and Red Gurnard to finish the day.

Picture shows a stunning view of Bloody Foreland and the Derryveagh Mountains in the background.
