🎥 Preserving Rural Heritage - A Glimpse into the Past: ‘Killing of Pig’ a Short Film by John Lynch tomorrow Wednesday 21st August from 8.30pm to 10pm as part of Heritage Week 2024, hosted by Kerry Writers’ Museum in Listowel
In 1978, filmmaker John Lynch captured the raw essence of rural Irish life with his short film "Killing of Pig," shot on Rich Kissane’s farm in Cloontubbrid, Listowel.
This powerful film goes beyond the butchering of a pig; it immortalises the communal spirit and deep connection to the land that defined 1970s Ireland.
Join us tomorrow, Wednesday 21st August, at Kissane’s Farm for a unique event that features a screening of Lynch’s film and evocative readings by Dick Carmody.
This is more than just a look back; it's a celebration of the resilience and community cooperation—known as ‘meitheal’—that once bound our rural communities together.
🎟️ A bus transfer will operate between Kerry Writers' Museum to Kissane's farmyard. Spaces are limited, so book early and be part of this collective act of remembrance and preservation. Let’s ensure these vital traditions continue to inspire future generations.
