Galway East Food and Heritage Experience vision is to create Sustainable Strategic Food and Heritage Tourism in East Galway. This will be achieved by creating a unique immersive tourism experience merging Food and Heritage tourism with the goal of establishing East Galway as a key food destination. As a nation we are becoming more aware that the food we eat is central to our wellbeing. We are also

becoming more aware that processed food is not good for us. Still the produce from our local fields is going to processing factories many miles away and may end up on plates all over the country and further afield rather than on our own plates locally. While our produce travels away from us to be consumed elsewhere, we are buying foods from other counties and countries. We believe that as a community we should be trying to reconnect with the food that is produced locally.
