Are you ready for the Mulranny We are looking for volunteers to come along and help make a difference together.
Please come along to Murrivaugh Beach on Saturday, the 21st of September at 1pm. We will have some Cleaning Kits available or please bring along your own gloves and pickers if you have them.
This year as Clean Coasts volunteers we are asked to be part of a round the world citizen science data collection project and to carry out marine litter surveys to quantify the amount and types of litter on Irish beaches. These surveys are aimed at heightening awareness about the issue of marine litter and serve as an indicator of the magnitude of the problem. Survey sheets will be provided on the day. Please spread the word, come along on the day and help to keep our beautiful beaches clean!

📷 🌌 *Free of Charge* Astrophotography Workshop Series in the Mayo Dark Sky Park, Wild Nephin National Park - Páirc Náisiúnta Néifinne Fiáine

This Fall 🍁, join us for a series of Astrophotography Workshops for the novice astrophotographer 🌠 in Mayo Dark Sky Park! A prominent Astrophotographer will lead each workshop, providing a set of top tips for photographing Mayo’s dark skies.

Sept. 11th @ 7:30PM, Workshop #1: Introduction to Astrophotography with Davy Patton

This workshop will cover the basics of landscape astrophotography, covering Milky Way and Aurora photography, and outlining the techniques involved - equipment (including cameras, lenses and star trackers✨), along with planning and editing images and some of the software used. If weather permits, the talk will be followed by a short practical session in the grounds of the Ballycroy Visitor Centre. Anyone attending can bring their own gear - ideally a digital camera capable of shooting manually and a wide angle lens f2.8 or better - along with a tripod - but bring what you have and we'll try it!

David lives in Rathcroghan in Co. Roscommon, an area rich in history and mythology. This Landscape is rich in monuments and Archaeology has been a source of inspiration for David for close on 30 years.

An interest in Astrophotography came about almost by accident with an article on an upcoming Supermoon. This led to planning a shot of the moon rising over a local standing stone. The phone app used to plan this shot also showed position of the Milky Way over the landscape, and that chance event led to David learning the basics of astrophotography and taking his first shots of the Milky Way over Rathcroghan in 2022. Since then, David was shortlisted in the “Reach for the Stars” Astrophotography competition in 2023 and a runner up in 2024 and held his first solo exhibition of astrophotography “Rathcroghan by Night” as part of Astronomy week 2024.

David is a regular visitor to the Dark skies of Co.Mayo, shooting Astrophotography at Mayo Dark Sky Park sites (Letterkeen, Ballycroy and the Cleggan coastal trail), as well as the dark skies over Achill Island.

WHAT IS LAUGHTER YOGA?

Laughter Yoga involves a series of exercises that produces laughter for prolonged periods of time. Each class starts off with a warm-up, followed by more prolonged outbursts of spontaneous laughter and finishes with belly laughing that can last up to 10 minutes!

WHY LAUGHTER YOGA?

Most of us agree that there’s nothing like a good laugh to lift our spirits. However, Laughter Yoga founder Dr Madan Kataria noticed that natural laughter is generally short-lived and left to chance - it may happen, it may not. Besides, there isn’t always much to laugh about, so if we wait until we have good reason to laugh, we may be waiting for some time!

This is why laughing for no reason is what Laughter Yoga classes are all about.

You don’t need a yoga mat, just turn up in loose, comfy clothes.

Mulranny Tourism & Mulranny Arts are delighted to invite you to a screening of 'A Famine Love Story' the Movie. Many of you will remember the fantastic outdoor dramatisation of Michael Joe Ginnelly's play that the whole community was a part of in May 2015. The lost video footage was found and has been edited into a captivating 35 minute movie! Screenings of the movie will take place in Mulranny Arts on Monday, the 3rd of June on the hour, every hour, from 2pm to 6pm.
Everybody is welcome to join us to wind back the clock to what was a very proud day for our community. Please spread the word.
