Sagra dei ceci e dello zafferano e Palio degli Asini di Navelli,
This was probably my 4th time I’ve photographed the festival of Chickpeas and Saffron in Navelli,Abruzzo,Italy, the highlight of the festival has to be the Palio, a crazy but fun event. I still don’t understand the rules but the passion and will to win is evident. This year was the first year I photographed it in the rain as it is usually at least 30 degrees and full sunshine. It didn’t dampen any of the riders and runners enthusiasm though.

Because it’s such a colourful event I normally concentrate on shooting it in colour but as I made this image I immediately knew this would have to be a black and white image because of the facial expressions which would have been lost amid the colours involved. Buck49 were the latest act to rock Finns Bar. On a whistle stop tour of Ireland, they finished up in Finns Ale House in Borrisoleigh. A great night of classic country, rockabilly and general good time music.

Attended a great festival in Thurles last weekend. The Liberty Music Festival, all tribute acts and some were really top class. Probably the best run event I was ever at and that seems to be the general consensus of everyone I chatted to over the weekend. I didn’t really bother with too many photos of the acts. I prefer to move through the crowd and find something more interesting and to capture the atmosphere of the event. Everyone was in great spirits and we all had fun. Pat’s Staying Put

Pat Mahers corner shop in Borrisoleigh reopens before it closed!!! Having just announced his retirement this week Pat was inundated with pleas to change his mind. Such is the importance of a little shop like Pat Maher’s to the village that representations from all ages appealed to him to reverse his decision. It would have been a big loss for that end of the village so thank you Pat

Another great night in Finns Bar last night. American duo Deni Bonet & Chris Flynn brought their extraordinary talents all the way from the US .
Music gigs don’t get more intimate than “Orange Blossom Special “ being played at breakneck speed with on a violin a couple of feet from your face.
