In a world of mass production, Power’s Foundry in New Ross is keeping an old craft alive. Run by brothers Seamus and David Power, it’s Ireland’s last full-time Iron foundry, producing everything from custom one-off pieces to intricate restoration projects. Working with molten metal at 1,400 degrees is dangerous, but their expert craftsmanship has earned them incredible recognition over the years, with features in documentaries, books, and major restoration projects like Woodstock Gardens and Stradbally (..home to Electric Picnic.)

Founded in 1973 by their father, John ‘Sonny’ Power, the foundry has survived major changes in the industry. Once a key supplier of manhole covers and street infrastructure, it has had to adapt as cheaper imports flooded the market. Today, its success lies in handcrafted, high-quality work that machines can’t replicate. A strong link to Ireland’s past, where tradition and craftsmanship are still very much alive (....for now!)

Youth New Ross are celebrating their 30th birthday - (YNR) was established three decades ago to serve families in New Ross and the surrounding area, not even the people behind the innovative project could have envisaged it becoming such a success. Founded with a fundamental belief in the potential of youth it has been led by local people from the community for the community. This makes it one of the most unique facilities of its kind in the country, and contributes in no small measure to the success story it is today. The aim of YNR is to provide a range of youth and family services in partnership with other services and with the support of volunteers.

There are a variety of youth and family based services provided within Youth New Ross which cover a broad spectrum of support and care to young people and their families in the community. Never before has there been such urgency to amplify the voices, energy, and support of youth. However, the success of this project – proves that community spirit is alive and well, and continuing to thrive....and long may it continue. 👏👏

Geraldine Ryan from Ryan's Funeral Home is starting a new chapter as a funeral celebrant, adding something special to the funeral homes four-decade legacy. With her recent training, Geraldine is now able to create ceremonies that reflect the person being remembered and bring comfort to their loved ones. Geraldine said: “Families often asked, ‘Could you take the service?’ That was why I decided to take the next step.” Her goal is to now work closely with the families to create a service that feels personal.....whether it’s religious, spiritual, or something completely unique. As well as the new offering, Geraldine has also led a full renovation of the funeral home, making sure it’s a warm, welcoming space for the families they serve.

Bearú (bah-roo) on South Street is the work of husband-and-wife team Dave Rowley and Siobhán Ward. Last summer they took over the former Sugar & Spice premises across from Brennan’s Lane with a straightforward goal: serve great food, make excellent coffee, and create a space people genuinely enjoy. Simple in theory, not so easy in practice.......but they’ve made it happen.

The welcome feels genuine, the service personal. There’s a clear focus on quality without any pretension. With nearly 25 years in the kitchen, many of them leading busy restaurants, Dave has put together a menu that respects seasonal produce while keeping things very interesting. Breakfast, lunch, and weekend dinner bring well-curated dishes to provide a truly special dining experience.

Incredible, Bearú is serving up a whole new dining experience to the town.

Urban Gym is celebrating six years in business today. Founded in 2019 by Andy and Marina Murphy, husband-and-wife duo set up their boutique fitness space in Woodbine Industrial Estate with a vision for an inclusive, community-driven gym. Alongside their team; Shane, Jack, Mick, Ryan and Kevin. They've built a workout space to cater for a thriving community. From high-energy training sessions to post-workout coffees, Urban Gym has become a home for a community built on friendships that are serious about their health and well-being. Their dedication hasn’t gone unnoticed, last year, they took home the Service Provider of the Year award at the County Wexford Chamber Awards.

Speaking on the six years, Andy shared: “We’re incredibly grateful to our members, staff, past and present and everyone who follows and supports us. Urban Gym wouldn’t be what it is today without you. We hope we’ve made a positive impact on your health, mindset, and personal growth, and we look forward to many more years together.”

A well-earned milestone for a gym, here’s to many more successful years ahead.

New Ross is taking convenience to a whole new level with the opening of new concept store E-Kiosk. The flagship store (located in the Irishtown) is an idea from Tomas Young and his team at Nesty, together the guys have transformed a vacant unit into a new store that will sell a wide range of goods to meet the needs of customers. Inside of the facilities you'll find everything from coffee, sandwiches and salads to snacks, cereal and milk. According to Tomas, "The opening of a store like this is something completely new and different for shoppers and we think they are going to love it."

An extremely exciting innovation in retail and customer service. The team based in New Ross pride themselves on their ability to use the most sophisticated technology to bring customers the best possible experience. Now, customers just pop into the store pick up what they need, whenever they need it – a great flexible solution for busy workers.
