Sad news from Monahullen. Our beloved George Clooney, AKA Notorious G, has left us. He was loved by a few (The Sloan Starrs) and feared by many. He travelled far and wide, visited Drumshanbo when a gosling and enjoyed taking part in the shenanigans of the Joe Mooney Music Week. And he took part in the annual 'dress up as your favorite tune ' event in Tinahely Comhaltas when he played an important role in 'The geese in the bog' tune with me. He was well known for biting the hand that fed him, and was particularly partial to having a go at anyone wearing brightly coloured leggings. We will miss him, as will Alice Alice where the f...and Napoleon Solo, our one remaining duck. We hope the fox who invited him out has completed his task and will leave us alone. So long George Clooney.

Looking for a fantastic autumn adventure? Well, right between the charming villages of Shillelagh and Tinahely, you'll find Tomnafinnoge Wood – a treasure trove for nature lovers, offering four different walks to choose from.

Let's break them down in a fun and easy way:

🍁Hazel Walk (1.5km): If you're short on time or just looking for a quick nature fix, the Hazel Walk is perfect. It's super easy and suitable for young families. Estimated time is 30mins. Start at the Tomnafinnogue car park and follow the red arrow on brown background - Loop Walk.

🌾River Walk (2.9km): This one's a hit with everyone! It's like a stroll through history, following the Derry River. The path is flat and perfect for buggy's. Plus, it's just a quick hop from both Shillelagh and Tinahely. Estimated time is 45mins. Start at the Tomnafinnogue car park and follow the blue arrow on brown background - Linear Trail.

🌿Beech Walk (3.6km): Another fantastic option for families! This is a moderate walk. As you wander through this ancient woodland, you'll be amazed by all the beautiful trees and plants around you. Estimated time is 1 hour. Start at the Tomnafinnogue car park there are no markings for this walk, follow the loop trail.

🍂Oak Walk (3.7km): Fancy a longer adventure? The Oak Walk is for you! It's a loop trail with plenty of Giant Oak trees to keep you company. Great for families too, with an estimated time of 1 hour. Start at the Tomnafinnogue car park and follow the green arrow on brown background - Loop Trail.

Each of these walks has its own charm, so pick the one that suits your mood and time. Tomnafinnoge Wood is a Special Area of Conservation, and it's a place where nature and history come together in a delightful autumn adventure. So, get out there, breathe in the crisp autumn air, and let the magic of this ancient woodland transport you back in time! 🍁🌳🍂
