Top things to do in Vancouver
For Honeymoon foodies…
Vancouver boasts a dynamic culinary scene with food truck festivals and pop-up restaurants that offer a diverse range of flavours. Whether you’re craving sushi, farm-to-table cuisine, or international delicacies, your taste buds are in for a treat.
A must-visit any time of year is Granville Island’s food hall. A haven for food enthusiasts, here you can enjoy fresh produce, artisanal treats, and live music while taking in stunning views of the city

For culture seeking Honeymooners…
Vancouver’s wide selection of museums are rich in history and art. Don’t miss Science World, the Vancouver Art Gallery, and the Museum of Vancouver. The Museum of Anthropology, which has reopened with new exhibits, is a treasure trove of First Nations art and history, and not to be missed.
Vancouver is a walkable city, with each neighbourhood offering unique experiences. I highly recommend a wander through historic Gastown, a stroll along the waterfront at Coal Harbour (which has amazing views over Stanley Park), and a spot of shopping in the West End.

For nature loving Honeymoons…

Grouse Mountain (one of three large mountains that hugs the city) offers a multitude of activities, from stand-up paddle boarding on nearby lakes in the summer and ziplining across the mountain to conquering the famed Grouse Grind for a rewarding view from the top (there is a cable car option if you prefer something more leisurely).
Whenever you visit, exploring Stanley Park’s 1,000 acres is a year-round treasure. You can cycle along the 10km seawall, enjoy picnics at the beaches, spot sea otters, and admire the cityscape views.

For adventure enthusiasts…
Get your adrenaline pumping with unique ways to experience the city and the surrounding landscapes. Float plane sightseeing tours are a must and provide an unparalleled view of Vancouver. Glide above the city, mountains, and water, taking in the majestic beauty from a bird’s-eye perspective.
There’s also FlyOver Canada which offers a 4D virtual experience soaring across the country’s landscapes.

All things considered Vancouver is a beautiful Honeymoon destination.

Safari special: Gentle Sea giants

Big and and totally awe-inspiring, our planet’s gentle giants are a phenomena best seen in their natural habitat. Migrating humpbacks in South Africa go whale-watching led by expert guides or naturalists.
Whales in Hervey Bay…
Australia is one of the best places in the world for whale-watching, with a strong chance to see orcas, southern right whales, and dwarf minke whales as they migrate along the coastline. Humpback whales are the most commonly seen, with over 30,000 passing from June to November.
Visit Hervey Bay in Queensland in early September and you may see mothers with them, although you don’t have to be on a boat; take the Coogee to Bondi Walk in Sydney and you’ll have a good chance from this lofty look-out!

Whales in Hermanus?
South Africa should also near the top of your list for a whale-watching adventure. Time your stay between June and September to catch the annual southern right whale migration, said to be the best land-based whale-watching in the world. You may even see calves in the water, as the mothers come to give birth in this area. Head to Hermanus, just under two hours from Cape Town, for the chance to spot Bryde’s and humpback whales on a boat tour.

📌 How to stay within your honeymoon budget

Be Flexible.

If possible be flexible on your date of departure. Travel on a Tuesday or a Wednesday when the flights are less busy, this will give you a lower airfare. Avoid Saturday or Sunday departures when the airlines often have weekend supplements applied so your flights will be dearer.

Don’t get to catch up on the order of your destinations. If you are planning a two-centre honeymoon visiting Dubai and Mauritius but the flights are €300.00 cheaper to visit Mauritius 1st and then Dubai, go for the saving. This makes sense and gives you more choice. You can save the money, or you could upgrade your hotel room or even upgrade your hotel. Or how about that romantic candle lit dinner on the beach with the waves lapping at your feet.

If you are working with me to plan your dream honeymoon this is something I would always check. My priority is always to get you the best value for money.

*How long should your go for?

This is important and boils down to the following.

1. Do you want a four-week trip which requires you to stay in three-star hotels to make 30 nights’ accommodation fit into your budget?

2. Are you happy to be away for 2 amazing weeks staying in a combination of four- and five-star hotels with room upgrade options, fabulous, personalised excursions pre booked in your destination and private transfers to and from all the airports?

Longer or more upmarket is the question here. Personally, I think a honeymoon is about treating yourself to something you have never experience before and for me that means going all out for 2 weeks.

The Amafi coast 💕
I visited Maiori, Positano, Sorrento & Vico Equense this weekend and although I knew it would be beautiful it was more beautiful than I expected.

One town is nicer than the next with
Spectacular views around every corner.
Definitely a beautiful part of the world but it can get very busy.

Towards the end of June through to August it’s very busy so just keep this in mind. If you can travel in May, June, September or October these would be the best months to avoid the crowds.

Elephants in Minneriya…
If you’d love to see elephants in the wild on your Honeymoon, your first thought might be an African safari. But this isn’t your only option. Sri Lanka – and notably Minneriya National Park, in the heart of the Cultural Triangle - is a great place to see huge numbers of Asian elephants among scrubland, forest, and wetlands.
In August and September, during the dry season, these wild elephants migrate to Minneriya in search of food and water. It’s not uncommon to see around 200 elephants feeding and bathing during the ‘Great Elephant Gathering’, surrounded by cormorants, painted storks, herons, and pelicans. Keep your eyes peeled for the park’s leopards, too.

Elephants in Khao Sok?
Elephant Hills is an award-winning luxury jungle camp in Thailand’s Khao Sok National Park. This is not your typical all-inclusive resort in Southern Thailand. Choose between two locations set two hours from each other, one in the middle of the rainforest, the other at one of the world’s only luxury floating camps on Cheow Lan Lake.
Join a two-, three- or four-day safari, which includes Elephant Hills’ ethical elephant encounter. Watch them interacting in their natural habitat, playing in the water, before helping to prepare their lunch. You can also go on jungle treks, see limestone karst formations, and canoe your way down the meandering Sok River. A fabulous Honeymoon experience.

October can be tricky and although Dublin is not likely top of your honeymoon wish list, with Hurricane seasons to be avoided and Monsoon season in full swing too an October Honeymoon can be tricky to get right.

Along with the destinations mentioned destinations like Greece, The Seychelles and Mauritius are perfect as is South Africa, Bali and Hawaii are all good too😊

After almost two months of closure, Mount Ijen in East Java is open again. All our tours have resumed.

Some increases in entrance fees have been announced and they will come into effect from next spring, the start of the fiscal year in Japan:

Osaka Castle will rise from 600JPY to 1,200JPY

October is a festive month in Korea, with several public holidays: On 1 October, the country celebrates Armed Forces Day. Later, Korea observes National Foundation Day (3 October) and Hangeul Day (9 October), celebrating the creation of the Korean alphabet.
