Rare Coastal Solitary bee spotted on the Mizen
When it comes to the environment it is nice to get some good news. A rare Red listed bee has been spotted for the first time on the Mizen.
The ground nesting solitary bee the "Northern Colletes" is restricted to flower rich coastal areas and has been in seriously decline especially in Northern Europe with Ireland currently now holding up to 90% of the remaining population in the Atlantic zone.
An All island campaign for its protection and promotion led by the National Trust and including the National Biodiversity Data Centre, Buglife, the National Parks & Wildlife Service and with funding from the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs was just launched recently.
Thanks to the Green Goleen Facebook group for the info and video 👍

Calm
Something calm and soothing to ease you into your week. Barley Cove was wonderful this afternoon, the tide was way out so it was vast!
Play this whenever you feel just a little stressed!
Perfect way to spend an afternoon! #exploringroaringwater
A flower does not think of competing with flower next to it, it just blooms! No competition here whatsoever ~ wonderful hydrangeas growing on Pier Road look amazing even on a dull day. #burstingwithcolor
Welcome back Schull Country Market ~ looking forward to a summer of sumptuous shopping on Sunday mornings. #sundaymorningvibes
The whole food chain was here, sprat driven by herring who were chased by seals all under the greedy eyes of the gulls. There is always something interesting to see down at the harbour, even at the very end of November.
Some great news of champion sailors, Mark Hassett & Oisin O'Driscoll who have finished their second 49er Olympic Regatta in Kiel (Germany) this week and came 17th overall out of a tough field of 43 boats.
They are currently on the way back to Schull. Watch out for them in July as they will be using their time here for some more training in their home waters!
We are experiencing the maddest weather down here in Schull- snow in the foreground but cloudlessness just out west!
