🌳The Sligo Woodland school in collaboration with Healthy Sligo provided a series of hands-on nature workshops, enabling all the family and individuals to participate in their own health journey. Families were encouraged to creatively explore nature, engage in a range of outdoor adventures and learn to use a wide range of natural materials for outdoor art & craft, through a multitude of engaging experiences including 🪵:

• Planting, Foraging and Cooking around the fire together 🔥
• Nature based art & craft games, songs and story telling 🌿
• Shelter Building and Bushcraft skills 🍂

All of these experiences are empowering individuals and families to adopt healthier lifestyle choices, focusing on Wellbeing, connecting with Nature and spending time with family and individuals in nature. 🌱
It was great fun and lots of smiles and laughter coming from the woods every day!

🌍 Empowering Rural Sligo – Action 44, Sligo 2030 - Maximize the opportunities for rural communities in Sligo by continuing to support the LCDC as the Local Action Group for the delivery of the rural development programme (LEADER)🌍

The Sligo LCDC in its oversight role launched the LEADER Programme (2023-2027) which is now up and running with over €6 million secured, Sligo County Council and Sligo LEADER are fuelling rural development across the county.
Community groups, businesses, and individuals can now apply for funding to boost local growth and sustainability.

Implement and build upon the four key pillars of Sligo’s digital strategy to: increase digital skills across the county, improve the digital infrastructure, deliver digital services and community initiatives, and foster innovation, enterprise, the digital economy and employment across the county.💡

Sligo County Council will continue to work with National Broadband Ireland and key stakeholders delivering the National Broadband Plan. The Council will also continue to liaise with private citizens, businesses, elected members, and mobile and broadband providers, in relation to coverage and availability of services throughout the county. 🌐

Sligo County Council will continue to future proof public realm works as regards digital and telecoms infrastructure where appropriate, liaising with operators, and identifying infrastructural gaps in an incremental manner. ✨

The Mayor Cllr Tom MacSharry and members of the Borough of Sligo Municipal District were delighted to welcome Sligo Rovers Football and Social Responsibility Officer Mr Jamie Murphy, to Sligo City Hall on the 9th of December 2024. 💫

The role of the Football and Social Responsibility (FSR) Officer is supported by Sligo County Council in collaboration with Sligo Rovers F.C. ⚽

⭐Mr Jamie Murphy outlined the activities and events held by the club to date since his appointment. The role supports and promotes football in our community and works to remove any barriers to participation. Mr Jamie Murphy has delivered many activities that promote participation in football, and to tackle exclusion based on gender, socio economic background, ethnicity, and disability. Working with new communities and disadvantaged areas to promote mental health and physical wellbeing through football. ⭐

The Active Travel Department of Sligo County Council has completed a significant project in Collooney Village. New footpaths, pedestrian crossings, bus shelters, and upgraded pavements bring safer, more accessible travel to Collooney. A boost for public transport and pedestrians alike! 🌍💚

🌱 Climate Action in Motion – Action 24 Sligo 2030 🌱

Sligo County Council’s Climate Action Plan (2024-2029) was adopted by the Elected Members and is now being rolled out!

Sligo County Council is tasked with delivering the Community Climate Action Fund, with €445,000 supporting 23 community groups, the local authority are investing in gardens, solar energy, composting, and more to drive local climate initiatives forward.
