🌳The Sligo Woodland school in collaboration with Healthy Sligo provided a series of hands-on nature workshops, enabling all the family and individuals to participate in their own health journey. Families were encouraged to creatively explore nature, engage in a range of outdoor adventures and learn to use a wide range of natural materials for outdoor art & craft, through a multitude of engaging experiences including 🪵:
• Planting, Foraging and Cooking around the fire together 🔥
• Nature based art & craft games, songs and story telling 🌿
• Shelter Building and Bushcraft skills 🍂
All of these experiences are empowering individuals and families to adopt healthier lifestyle choices, focusing on Wellbeing, connecting with Nature and spending time with family and individuals in nature. 🌱
It was great fun and lots of smiles and laughter coming from the woods every day!

🌍 Empowering Rural Sligo – Action 44, Sligo 2030 - Maximize the opportunities for rural communities in Sligo by continuing to support the LCDC as the Local Action Group for the delivery of the rural development programme (LEADER)🌍
The Sligo LCDC in its oversight role launched the LEADER Programme (2023-2027) which is now up and running with over €6 million secured, Sligo County Council and Sligo LEADER are fuelling rural development across the county.
Community groups, businesses, and individuals can now apply for funding to boost local growth and sustainability.

Sligo County Council will continue to work with National Broadband Ireland and key stakeholders delivering the National Broadband Plan. The Council will also continue to liaise with private citizens, businesses, elected members, and mobile and broadband providers, in relation to coverage and availability of services throughout the county. 🌐

🚧 Revamping Sligo’s Roads – Action 10, Sligo 2030 - support upgrades and improvements to Sligo’s road networks including the N16 to Enniskillen and Belfast. 🚧
The N16 Lugatober Project, managed by Sligo County Council and funded by Transport Infrastructure Ireland, is transforming one of Ireland’s most outdated roads. With 2.54 km of new roadway and 2.9 km of active travel paths, it’s a major boost for safe and efficient travel. Completion set for late 2024! 🚗🌍

🌱 Climate Action in Motion – Action 24 Sligo 2030 🌱
Sligo County Council’s Climate Action Plan (2024-2029) was adopted by the Elected Members and is now being rolled out!
Sligo County Council is tasked with delivering the Community Climate Action Fund, with €445,000 supporting 23 community groups, the local authority are investing in gardens, solar energy, composting, and more to drive local climate initiatives forward.
