To all my customers in the United States. I want to say that I am thinking of you all today after such a shock result this morning in your recent elections. I had many conversations with you all on our walks here in Sligo over the years and this year, about current affairs in the US and I know that most of you who are reading this will remember me asking how you felt about the way things were and what your views were on the future government and leadership etc. I know that none (I think) of you wanted another Trump presidency. Unfortunately, this mornings news (Irish time) was not what I was expecting or wanted to hear along with billions of others across the world I am sure. Anyway, without going on, I hope things won't be as bad as you think/expect/fear and hopefully the next 4 years will bring some light and hope and above all, PEACE.
We say here 'Go n-éirí an bóthar leat'- may the road rise with you.

Had a lovely morning today teaching marine biodiversity and coastal heritage to a class of children in Cartron, Sligo. I introduced them to the Atlantic Ocean, marine megafauna of the Atlantic, ocean warming and other factors causing harm to the oceans, coastal sea life, vegetation and marine environmental awareness. keeping it light yet informative and immersive, the children engrossed themselves and loved it.. I was very happy to see that. I offer in house and outdoor visits to primary schools under the Heritage in Schools Scheme run by the The Heritage Council of Ireland. Here are a few pics to give you an idea of what is covered and please contact me if you are a primary school teacher in the Northwest or other part of Ireland (I can travel) for an outdoor workshop/fieldtrip to an indoor class-half or full days.
Here is the link to my profile should any principal or teacher who wishes to get on board with the scheme or know of a primary schools who are not aware of it and can pass on this info. Thankyou St Brendan's NS Sligo!

Hi all! I had the pleasure of meeting this nice lady from the US recently who joined me on my Knocknashee Mythology Trail.. She travelled to Ireland purely to fulfill her inner need and wishes to experience this important and special place in Co. Sligo! According to Irish mythology, this mountain is connected to the 'Sidhe' of the 'Tuatha dé Danaan' tribe/race from ancient times and the incredible sepulchral mounds on top of it are thought to be the portals to this other world where the Sidhe reside. Isn't it an intriguing thought of these supernatural beings exiting these portals during Samhain and mixing with the mortal? Of course, you do not have to believe this, but it's nice to think about it.. especially at this time of year.. please get in touch if you would like to do a special tour like this one.. [email protected] and www.seatrails.ie for options.

Hi all, the Autumn is upon us and I want to put a reminder out to primary schools around Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Donegal and Mayo about the Heritage in Schools Scheme- click on this link to find out more- https://www.heritageinschools.ie/about/how-it-works.
This is a brilliant scheme organised by the The Heritage Council of Ireland and running for many years now, enabling young children to learn about their local heritage, both inside their school and outside the classroom.
I advise any school who may be interested in this scheme to get on board- click here for my profile and what I teach-
https://www.heritageinschools.ie/heritage-expert/profile/auriel-robinso- in short; local history, archaeology, geology, biodiversity and the marine environment. The rates for a visit/fieldtrip are extremely reasonable and affordable-For me to visit/run a workshop of fieldtrip and teach for half day is 60 euros only and 100 euros for the full day (the Heritage Council supplement the rest) and if you are a Déis school, a half day will only cost 40 euros and 60 euros for a full day. It is really great value!
You can contact me for more info if you need to and we can organise a date and fieldtrip or in house visit over the coming weeks/months before the year is out. Please get in touch and/or share this with other teachers you know in the respective counties. Email: [email protected] or call 087 2405071. Thankyou, Go raibh mile maith agaibh!
