A great chance for all you nature lovers to help with with a bit of citizen science. 😁

When you submit records to the Farmers' Wildlife Calendar, you get a response by email within one week of how the event you recorded may be affected by climate change.

For example, did you know that researchers from the University of Sheffield found that of the Primroses, the Common Primrose (Primula vulgaris) is most resilient to climate breakdown. The findings of this study suggest that plants that put less energy into developing large and colourful flowers are better able to withstand the changes in our climate. To read more about this research, please click the link https://eprints.whiterose.ac.uk/147250/

To find our more, about how we think events will be effected by climate change submit records. At the moment, we are looking for first records of frog spawn, marsh-marigold and Blackthorn.

A great reminder here - don't go tidying up too soon!

We're back!

Mystery Hike Night ran for nearly 3 years prior to the Covid pandemic. And we're over the moon to be getting back out there starting next week.

Our first Mystery Hike of 2023 will be on Wednesday 8th Februrary. Meet in Stranorlar opposite Andies supermarket at 6.30pm.

DM or email me in advance to register.

What is Mystery Hike Night?
We're a group of walkers that meet up every week to get outside and have some fun. We walk outside the town limits, on forestry tracks or quiet back roads. Each walk is between 5km and 10km long, depending on the group, their fitness and the weather conditions.

There is no charge for the walk.

What's the Mystery?
Well, no-one knows where we will go each week (except for me of course😁).

What's it all about?
Mystery Hike Night is all about creating a safe space for new or experienced walkers to meet up, have some fun, get a little fitter, and explore our gorgeous countryside. We especially welcome people who don't normally have a walking buddy, and those who haven't been walking for a while and want to get back at it.

Really want to come along, but feeling a bit nervous?
DM or email me here or on Instagram and I can help. It's always good to get to know someone before you come along and we can chat through your concerns.

You will find a full Frequently Asked Questions on the website www.wilddaysout.com
