Tipperary Glove Factories Remembered
We are pleased to present ‘Tipperary Glove Factories Remembered’. This film documentary traces the gloving industry in Tipperary Town from its beginning in the early 1900’s to the 1970’s. The film is a tribute to the men & women who worked in this industry, especially those working from home (doing piece work, ie. paid according to their output). The film was launched in front of a packed audience at Tipperary Excel this evening and was complemented by an exhibition featuring memorabilia salvaged from the last remaining glove factory at James Street.
Special Thanks to Mary Alice O'Connor, Dr. Denis G Marnane & Elaine Fitzpatrick for their tremendous input and to Director Jim Keane along with the cast and crew. There are so many people involved in the making of this film, it was a splendid work of collaboration leading to this wonderful tribute honouring our Industrial Heritage.
A 'Heartfelt thanks to one and all.

Ailish Drake Radio Interview Tipp Mid West Radio
We have had some enquiries in relation to the design project that is underway for ‘The Plan’ on the Limerick Road. There seems to be some confusion locally about what is happening and how the project is being managed so we would like to clarify.
Firstly, the reason the project has been undertaken is that the need to enhance the space and carry out some preventative maintenance was identified by the community during our early consultations. There is a long-standing issue with drainage at the site as residents and regular users will be aware, along with some structural issues with the bandstand, footpaths and boundary wall. These are all being looked at as part of the project, and there may be some new features and accessibility improvements recommended depending on the outcome of the consultations. There are no plans whatsoever at this stage to make dramatic changes to the park. The aim of the project is to enhance the space and ensure that ‘The Plan’ can continue to be enjoyed by locals and visitors alike into the future.
There is a recent TMWR interview with project lead Ailish Drake below that explains what is happening and how the project will unfold. There is no suggested design or alterations being put forward at this stage, the design team recently met some of the local stakeholder groups including the local residents, Tidy Towns, Light Up the Plan and Tipperary Town Heritage Group, and following on from this there will be an open morning on Saturday April 02nd for the community to come and meet with the project team, put forward ideas and suggestions and get involved in the project. A project plan will be designed from there. The community will be kept informed at all stages of the design process, and there will be opportunities to contribute to the project at every stage.
