Delighted to be back for our 12th Season Open Water Swim Coaching. Where else would you want to be on a summer evenings but with friends.

Join us for the Swim Ireland Open Water Pathway. This is Open to Club Swimmers who have competed in 800m or 1500m pool events or Club Swimmers who have already been open water swimming with Wild Water Adventures these past few years. Swimmers must be over 13 years. We are looking to send Swimmers to the National Open Water Championships. For those Swimmers who are training for divisionals, these sessions we will be concentrating on Open Water skills. Your main training will still be taking place in the pool at your club sessions.

Swim Ireland is delighted to announce the development of the NEW Open Water Pathway Training Programme, which has been developed to provide experienced club swimmers an opportunity to familiarise themselves and learn the skills of open water swimming.

These programmes will be a 6 or 8 week programme delivered by experienced club coaches who have knowledge in delivering pool and open water-based sessions.

👉 Encourage pool-based club swimmers to sample the sport of open water swimming.

👉 Provide a basis for multiple ages to compete at open water events across multiple distances.

👉 Increase the number of swimmers entering competitive open water swimming events.

Hi Guys,
Block Bookings Now Open for June 2024 (4 weeks)

Sessions, starting on Monday 3rd June, sessions running Monday to Thursday each week.
Booking numbers are restricted per session, and all sessions run by an experienced qualified, insured coach (John). Kayak cover on each session and everyone who works with Wild Water Adventures on our swim sessions are qualified Beach Lifeguards.

Sometimes due to weather sessions may be moved to Magherabeg/ Sandy Bay (front beach Castlegregory).

Anyone who is in our summer swim sessions will be notified first on any of our swim events during the season.

If you are new to open water, please sign up for that group regardless of your ability and John will move you up to your appropriate level when he feels you have the necessary skills.
Criteria:
New to open water.
Must be able to swim a minimum of 50 m, 2 lengths in the pool, head in the water breathing. Swimming in open water for the first time. Suitable for try a tri's plus.
Monday 6.30 pm-7.15 pm
Wednesday 6.30 pm-7.15 pm

Improvers
Must be able to swim a minimum 100m 4 lengths of the pool, head in the water breathing. Be comfortable out of their depth and able to swim to buoy one.
Mondays 7.15pm- 8pm
Tuesday 6.30-7.15pm
Thursday 6.30pm – 7.15 pm

Intermediate
Must already be swimming open water and be able to swim the course in Fenit and be comfortable swimming out of your depth with your head in the water breathing. Looking to swim lighthouse, across the bay, or full triathlon.
Monday 8 pm
Tuesday 7.15 pm
Wednesday 7.15 and 8 pm
Thursday 7.15 pm.

Advanced
Must have open water experience, looking to do a marathon swim, full Iron Man, across the bay, and distance swims.
Tuesday and Thursday at 8 pm.

We had a wonderful night in Dublin at the Outsider Magazine Awards .ie . What an inspirational event. We left the event buzzing. There are so many amazing people doing extraordinary things in the outdoors in Ireland. We have a great tribe and it felt very special being part of it last night. Met old friends, made new friends, and had loads of fun. Congratulations to , who won our category and congratulations to all the nominees in all categories on the night. Outsider you have created the most wonderful celebration and a magical event that celebrates all that is so special about our landscape, people and adventure. I don't remember much of the drive back to Kerry last night as I was planning more and more adventures in my head. Thanks to everyone who has been kind and supportive of us all these years.
