A wonderful month of music kicks off in tonight, Tuesday 10th September at 8pm. at Esker Arts with the ConTempo Quartet.
Ireland’s longest established string quartet, the ConTempo Quartet. was founded in Budapest in 1995 and has been based in Ireland since 2003 as Galway Music Residency’s Ensemble in Residence. They were also RTE’s Resident Quartet from 2014 until 2019 and have performed nearly 2000 concerts in 46 countries. Praised as a ‘fabulous foursome’ (Irish Independent) and noted for performances which are ‘exceptional’ (The Strad) and ‘full of imaginative daring’ (The Irish Times), the ConTempo Quartet has forged a unique place in Irish musical life.

We are excited to announce that our next exhibition will be "You Gave Your Breath to the Wind" by one of our all time favourite Irish-based-artists: Nathalie El Baba!
We have always loved Nathalie's work and we cannot wait to share her latest with you. The inspiration for "You Gave Your Breath to the Wind" is the loss of Nathalie's father, through a series of oil and acrylic paintings, as well as wood-mounted prints, Nathalie explores the raw emotions tied to loss, memory, and the inevitable return to the elements.
The work touches on universal themes of life and death, offering viewers an opportunity to reflect on their own experiences with bereavement and the cyclical nature of existence.
This exhibition is supported by The Offaly Arts Council Office.

Friday 20th September, 7.30pm, as part of Culture Night, artist Cecilia Bullo will give a Gallery Talk about the In Dreams exhibition, featuring work by herself and Arno Kramer.
Cecilia Bullo is an Irish-Italian visual artist based in Dublin who makes sculptures and multimedia installations. Her practice is research-based and informed by historical, mythological, psychoanalytic and ecofeminist theories, which create a vital conceptual framework for her physical work. In particular, she is interested in material cultures relating to rituals of healing and transformation, including iconography and artefacts linked to cultural traditions, urban shamanism, and ecofeminism.
Cecilia was an awarded resident at Fire Station Artists’ Studios 2020–2023 and is the recipient of numerous awards from the Arts Council, Dublin City Council, Culture Ireland, Culture Moves Europe, Creative Ireland, Art & Disability Ireland and Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council.
Arno Kramer works as a visual artist in The Netherlands and Ireland. He has been exhibiting in Ireland since 1995. He has shown at Green on Red Gallery, Limerick City Gallery of Art, The Model, Ballina Arts Centre, Galway Arts Centre, The Mermaid Arts Centre, Crawford Gallery and at the Cavanacor Gallery.
Arno taught for 20 years at the AKI (Academy of the Visual Arts and Design) in Enschede, the Netherlands, and has been a guest teacher at art colleges in Ireland, Belgium, England, Scotland, and the USA. He publishes on visual arts and also writes poetry. He is currently the founder and first curator of the Drawing Centre Diepenheim in The Netherlands (Kunstvereniging Diepenheim).
Culture Night is brought to you by the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht and the Creative Ireland Programme in partnership with Offaly County Council.

Leap Castle was used as a principle stronghold of the O’Carroll clan. It was used to guard the pass through the Slieve Bloom Mountains and has been said that no castle was more well-fortified than Leap. There are some unusual guests too!
