mmended to ensure you do not miss anything this remarkable island has to offer. Valentia Island is accessible from the mainland by bridge from Portmagee & by ferry from Renard Point, Cahersiveen. Valentia Island Car Ferry runs from Renard Point situated a half mile off the Ring of Kerry road, to Knightstown Pier on Valentia Island. The ferry operates as a continuous shuttle service, with a five-minute crossing, six months of the year from April to October.

We continue to urge motorists to only make necessary journeys, and where safe to do so. The public are also urged to continue being extra cautious when using the road, regardless of your mode of transport. Where possible, motorists should remain on treated routes.

A Status Yellow warning for Low Temperatures and Ice remains in place until midday on Thursday 9th Jan 2025.
Road conditions remain hazardous in much of Kerry and motorists are advised to avoid unnecessary travel.
KCC crews will continue to treat priority routes when possible.
