Prize giving for both of the races from this weekend. The Burns Shanahan trophy raced over the two islands course was won by Dermot Greer and the crew of Yola. Today we had the Ivan and Mary Sutton trophy. Close sailing saw a two second gap between Yola and Ratatouille for line honours but given the handicap system with Steve D'arx coming from 4th to 1st on Ah Go On. Photos and video to be added here later.

Finally starting to get the brain to slow down after the hectic hour or so in Kilmore Quay this afternoon. Glad to have played our part in a successful outcome for everyone. Was only a small cog in the big wheel that included Rosslare Radio, Kilmore Quay Lifeboat, Kilmore Quay coast guard unit, Ger Carthy from the National Ambulance Service, Rescue 117. Never realised that when push came to shove the strength of Sharron, she had three people up the swimming ladder in the back gate safely on the boat in what felt like a millisecond. I then found out how quickly Sea Spirit can go backwards to get out to the relative safety of deeper waters, VERY QUICKLY. The biggest realisation was how big the 16m lifeboat is compared to a 6.35m pilot house boat in a rolling swell, VERY BIG, let's just say the best view I could get of Eugene Kehoe at the upper helm position was through the skylight 😬😬

It’s one thing dealing with heavy weather sailing offshore, but what should coastal sailors do when a big blow is imminent? We face a storm to find out
