Hi my name is Barry,
I have been working in the fitness industry for nearly 20 years nowand have seen it all!! I have years of experience in dealing with clients and getting them results! I'll be the first to admit there is still so much for me to learn out there but I think as a good trainer you always must admit you don't know it all and you must continue to research , question and be open to ne

w ideas and opinions. I have worked in many gyms in both Waterford and Cork and have also worked as a PT in Australia. I have many qualifications so can help you with your fitness goals using peersonal training, private group training and now offering sports massage to help any tension, injuries etc you may have! I have a keen interest in weight loss and body fat reduction and helping people reach their fitness goals which inturn improve their self esteem and confidence which is also a great benefit from physical activity!!

It's Christmas!!
I always recommend people enjoy themselves and not be afraid of a few drinks (albeit I'm truly terrified nowadays)
Due to my hangovers 🤣🤣I always try to explain to clients,
We can get over the consumption of the extra calories most of the time
but
what the big issue is if you're focusing on weightloss or even just health is the aftermath!
The craving for food
The not moving,
stuck to the bed feeling,
The tiredness for a couple days that impacts walking training sleeping etc
So have your drinks if there's a night out or family time at home
but don't let it effect the coming days,
get out get walking,
you may need to train slightly lighter, slightly less intensity but train nonetheless if you can and want ofcourse!
and get back to eating well!

Also what's great is, "the cure" 🤣
That being said
I fully expect to be in bed all day after any nights out I have this weekend 🤣🤣

Your Progress!!

Okay so now its December, Christmas is upon us, so food and drink will be consumed more so than usual!
But if you want to limit the damage , there's a few easy steps to try and follow!!
1.Drink plenty of water throughout the holidays!
2.if eating out (you'll prob have to book now for christmas!) aim to get a good portion of protein and veg in your meal!
3. bit extreme but skip dessert!
4. switch to spirits instead of beer but warning could lead to dodgy decision making!
5.instead of saying f**k it it's Christmas and eating the whole box of roses , call it quits after 1/2 a box 😂😂
6.try and keep your training/exercise routine and if not, just try and exercise when you can!
7. try and be as active as you can the day after the night before, hangover depending!
If you're like me u could end up in bed all day but try try try get your ass moving!!
8.book in for a class or pt or organise to meet friends , socially distant ofcourse, for exercise or a walk, as this will give you some accountability!
9.Christmas swim, that'll knock the cobwebs off you 😂😂

10. with all that said, enjoy it. if you do over indulge, its not the end of the world!! just get back on track when you can.
Are an extra few calories worth having a good time with friends and family!? Yes always!
If you do gain weight don't be upset and wonder why, we know why and we know what to do to fix so all is not lost!
You just have to decide is keeping a few pounds off more important then finishing off those roses 😂
make your choice and live with it, it's all good!!

Tick these boxes!
Walk each day ✅
Workout / exercise when u can✅
Eat your veg and protein ✅
Drink your water ✅
Sleep well ✅
Enjoy it ✅
But at the end of the day, if u decide to press the f**k it button now, u do u 🤣
And if u put weight on over Xmas, so f**king what, once u accept it,own it and move on!
Dont be upset over it
It's your choice
After all,
I'll always rather be up a couple lbs and enjoy time with friends and family then down a couple lbs unable to relax and just being miserable🤣

I always find September is just as busy if not busier than your classic January buzz!
Kids are back in school
Kids and parents have a routine
So now it's easier to get back into the gym!
But if you find yourself wandering around the gym aimlessly, get a plan!
We have both online plans
and once off plans available!

If you, like me, have lacked consistency due to numerous things such as , summer and its
nights out, beach days instead of gym days, low motivation, injuries acting up , bloody kids 🤣 etc etc
Then if and when u return these may help!
1. Don't kill yourself when u return, ease into and lift light if you must.

2. Prob best not to start with a leg day, maybe try a full body or pick am easier session like me today, back day!

3. Stop procrastinating, again like me, writing this post when I'm actually meant to train!
Book a sesh, force yourself to the gym and get yourself up and running again!

4. If you used train 4 or 5 times a week, on ur first week back maybe just aim for 2 or 3 sessions. That way if you don't make 4 or 5 it's okay your aim wad 2 or 3 and u nailed that!

5.Remind yourself how good you feel when u do workout!
You will be happy when u start again!

6.Your gym crush may be missing you!!
