The board wishes to assure all our members & volunteers as well as our loyal visitors that we intend to return to full production in 2021. To this end, plans are already being made to prepare & produce an exceptional House of Horrors for 2021.

Due to the on-going Covid-19 crisis, the board has had to take the difficult but necessary decision to cancel the House of Horrors event for 2020.
Following a risk assessment which included independent advice, the board decided that the event could not be run safely and efficiently given the current restrictions and guidelines. The board took the decision in the best interests & well-being of our staff, volunteers, young people and the general public.

The loss of this year’s event is a devastating blow for all involved in the preparation & roll-out of the House of Horrors but it also leaves a significant shortfall in income required to run Children’s Group Link and its associated projects to the year end of 2020 and into the first quarter of 2021.
This is a net loss of approx. €25,000 – see second post for how you can help.

The House of Horrors is fast approaching and promises to be Irelands Premier and favourite Halloween attraction again in 2019. Check out our House of Horrors Waterford page or the Children’s Group Link page for details of the event.
We are now seeking volunteer cast & crew members to participate in this fabulous production. If you are 15 years or over why not get involved with a great team and be part of this major event.
Volunteer roles include; acting scares, mechanical props operation, front of house, backstage, make-up, leaflet drops. An information meeting about volunteering will take place on Thursday 26th September at 6.30pm at Unit 43 Waterford Business Park (behind John Kelly Motors). Why not come along and find out more about the House of Horrors. The meeting should last no more than one hour. Please note that volunteers of all ages over 15yrs are welcome. The Big Quiz

Waterford’s Biggest and most unique table quiz is returning following a hugely successful first year in 2018 where almost 50 teams competed to be crowned Waterford’s Big Quiz winners. The second BIG QUIZ is happening on Friday 8th February in St. Anne’s Tennis Club, John’s Hill Waterford. The Big Quiz is different from most others as not only does it have general knowledge but also categories to include music, audio and visual with images and sounds on a big screen. There are prizes for 1st 2nd & 3rd with a perpetual trophy for the winners. The quiz will be followed by a disco with Mike Kenny playing the best songs from the decades. The cost is just €25 per team of 4 and includes finger food. Please note that the number of teams this year will be limited to 42 so if you want to be assured of a place call Brendan on 087-2992420 to get your team entry form- demand will be high. This event is kindly sponsored by Robert Thompson Funeral Directors and all proceeds go to Children’s Group Link.

We conducted a review workshop of House of Horrors 2018 today involving 30 participants representing board, staff, volunteers, young people and stakeholders, which was facilitated by John Warren. In conducting the review, we were conscious of some issues that arose for the public in terms of waiting times, queuing times and cancellations, which we believe we have now addressed. A few issues arose that were outside of our control but these are also being analysed for learning purposes.
We are very grateful for the continued support and feedback from the public. We are confident that HOH 2019 will be bigger and better.

The vendor who was supplying snacks, hot & cold drinks and hotdogs for this year's House of Horrors event has had to withdraw, due to unforeseen circumstances.
