Holy Trinity National School is a co educational school situated in the heart of beautiful Westport. We have three classrooms. Junior Infants, Senior Infants and 1st Class are in the Junior Classroom. 2nd, 3rd and 4th Class are in the Middle Room and 5th and 6th Class are in the Senior Room. In our small school environment all pupils and staff get to know each other very well and many strong relat

ionships and friendships are formed among our pupils. All our pupils are valued and respected and experience a sense of caring and belonging. Our school is under the patronage of The Church of Ireland and also welcomes children from different faiths and none. We currently have a number of families from different faiths and we enjoy learning from each other. Our school caters for children with various special educational needs as well as for children whose first language is not English. We have a learning support / resource teacher and a special needs assistant. On a weekly basis our children enjoy drama lessons, tin whistle lessons and Irish dancing lessons with specialist teachers. We also have after-school soccer for middle room and senior room pupils. Throughout the school year pupils participate in many whole school activities including our annual Christmas concert, an Irish dancing and music performance, gardening club, Westport Art's festival activities, Active week, Friendship Week and a variety of other activities. Our senior pupils also enjoy gaelic training, spike ball, cross country running, Greenway cycles, quizzes. Click on whole school activities to see more details of these activities and others. Developing an appreciation by pupils of Ireland's culture, traditions and language is an integral part of the school's educational activities.

5th and 6th class had a great day in Louisburgh today, at Maria College's Junior WoW Day. The children made pencil holders in Technology, hook racks in Woodwork and shortbread in Home Ec. They tried badminton, archery, GAA, basketball, chess, music and Lego. And they had pizza for lunch before heading back on the buses to Westport. It was great to meet past pupils there too helping out. Thanks to all in Louisburgh for welcoming us!

Some chemistry today in the Senior Room, celebrating Science Week. We boiled up red cabbage to make a pH indicator and tested a selection of household compounds to see if they were acid, alkali or neutral.
Then the real fun began, making our own explosive versions of George's Marvellous Medicine. 🧑‍🔬🧪⚗️💥

We have been reading 'The Three Little Pigs' in the junior room recently. We have written our own versions and we have acted it out and today we had a surprise visitor. While Ms Maxwell left the room, The Big Bad Wolf came to visit us to tell us his version of events. We got to ask him questions and I think we may have caught him out on a few untruths 🤔

Here are a few photos from Paráid na bPúcaí with our friends in Gaelscoil na Cruaiche.
It was a very successful event and we are so grateful to the Gardaí, Westport Men’s Shed and of course the Parents Association of Gaelscoil na Cruaiche.

While 6th class visited Rice College today, 5th class went to the forest. We met the Junior Infants while we were out, stopped off at the playground on the way back and used our precious conkers for Maths back in the classroom.

We would like to say a huge thank you to all those who joined us in solidarity on our Friendship Walk today. We were blown away, but not surprised, by the wonderful support shown to us by the people of Westport. Despite the rain, you showed up in great numbers to support us and showed the true meaning of 'community spirit'. Hopefully the Department of Education will listen and will be forced into coming up with a more suitable, fairer solution for all. Thank you all again, we really appreciate all the support shown. Hopefully we will feature on RTE News later this evening. We are so proud of all our students in Holy Trinity👏. Have a lovely weekend everyone.
