Holy Trinity National School is a co educational school situated in the heart of beautiful Westport. We have three classrooms. Junior Infants, Senior Infants and 1st Class are in the Junior Classroom. 2nd, 3rd and 4th Class are in the Middle Room and 5th and 6th Class are in the Senior Room. In our small school environment all pupils and staff get to know each other very well and many strong relat
ionships and friendships are formed among our pupils. All our pupils are valued and respected and experience a sense of caring and belonging. Our school is under the patronage of The Church of Ireland and also welcomes children from different faiths and none. We currently have a number of families from different faiths and we enjoy learning from each other. Our school caters for children with various special educational needs as well as for children whose first language is not English. We have a learning support / resource teacher and a special needs assistant. On a weekly basis our children enjoy drama lessons, tin whistle lessons and Irish dancing lessons with specialist teachers. We also have after-school soccer for middle room and senior room pupils. Throughout the school year pupils participate in many whole school activities including our annual Christmas concert, an Irish dancing and music performance, gardening club, Westport Art's festival activities, Active week, Friendship Week and a variety of other activities. Our senior pupils also enjoy gaelic training, spike ball, cross country running, Greenway cycles, quizzes. Click on whole school activities to see more details of these activities and others. Developing an appreciation by pupils of Ireland's culture, traditions and language is an integral part of the school's educational activities.

Great volunteering and hard work by this young man today who helped out during his break-time to make our playground look nicer👏👏
Many thanks to all at Westport Sports complex for allowing us to use their facilities. Today our middle and senior room children enjoyed the opportunity to have PE lessons with such generous space.
Active maths in the car park looking at the teacher’s car registrations. Place value, ordering, adding, lots of maths around us!

Congratulations to our 6th class pupils who completed 8 years of primary school on Thursday. At their Leaving Assembly we said goodbye and wished them all the very best as they take the next step, onward to secondary school. We will truly miss these children in Holy Trinity, they have been wonderful Big Brother and Big Sister figures. There will always be a welcome for them here and we look forward to hearing back from them next year and beyond.
Congratulations to these children for their excellent attendance from September 2023-June 2024.
A lovely morning meeting some of the new faces who will be joining us in September. The lovely thing about Holy Trinity is that our older children always look out for our younger children and welcome them into our lovely school family🥰 We wish you all a wonderful, safe, happy summer holiday and look forward to seeing you all again after the holidays. 🎉🥰
Off to the Crescent to play Ultimate Frisbee. We are blessed to have such beautiful public spaces in our town, and this one is right on our doorstep. 🌳🤸

The Senior Room had a great time at a bilingual Ceardlann Drummaí (drumming workshop) this afternoon at the Westport Mayo County Library. If the cap fits, wear it! We got to try a few on for size. Just as we should in life. 😊
We were singing and dancing our way into the holidays in the Junior Room today 😊 Some great moves on display. We wish you all a very happy and safe Easter holidays from all of us in Holy Trinity. 🥰
Yesterday we leaped into action to revise all our good practice of environmental awareness and care. After walking, cycling, scooting and taking the bus to school children participated in a variety of activities to highlight the importance of reducing our use of energy produced by electricity and fossil fuels . We read and talked about We Want our Park Back by Oisin McGann, held a Zero Power Hour, did some litter picking, read and responded to the Lorax by Dr Seuss, conducted an experiment to find the best insulation, created a Green code. We are working towards our Global Citizenship Energy flag. #GreenFlagAward
St Brigid came to see us all this morning at Assembly. Thank you to Reverend Suzanne for organising this lovely visit🥰
Science is all about observation, experimentation, trial and error and we certainly had our fair share of trial and error today in our attempts to make balloon powered cars in the Senior Room 😊. However determination, problem solving and teamwork won through and these two young engineers were the first to come up with a successful working prototype. Everyone worked so hard, helping one another and not giving up until all problems involving weight, balance, mechanics and propulsion were solved. Well done everyone👏 (more photos later)
