As Dee moves on to bigger and better things, we'd like to wish her the very best of luck in her new role as curator at the Michael Davitt Museum. Deirdre was a corner stone of our tours of Westport for 7 years and helped us achieve numerous awards, accolades and 5 🌟 reviews. She will be sorely missed but we're delighted to see her gain the recognition she deserves. The Michael Davitt museum are very very lucky to have Deirdre join them and we highly recommend a visit.

We are delighted to introduce Deirdre McGuirk who begins her role as Curator of the Michael Davitt Museum.
Deirdre holds an MA in Public History and Cultural Heritage from the University of Limerick and a BA Hons in History and Geography from ATU, Mayo.
Deirdre has many years experience as a tour guide in Co Mayo providing walking tours in Westport. She has also carried out many roles at the National Museum of Ireland - Country Life as a tour guide and with the education department and the Irish Community Archive Network (ICAN).
Deirdre was also the Outreach and Education Specialist with the Sligo Community Archaeology Project 2024.
Deirdre is delighted to commence her new role at the Michael Davitt Museum and looks forward to planning many events in 2025.

This VW Beetle has been shortened and turned into a VW Bee. How cool are those little doors 👍

Our Story

Westport Walking Tours are a FREE walking tour which runs Monday to Friday at 10am and 12pm, from April to September. Departing from The Town Hall Theatre at The Octagon, Westport Walking Tours offers a casual walk around the heart of Westport town for approximately 1 hour, whilst listening to some interesting stories of how the town was shaped. Hear stories ranging from how the Ice Age shaped Clew Bay and Ireland's holiest mountain Croagh Patrick, right up to today when Westport is consistently being voted Irelands Tidiest Town and even the Best Place to Live in Ireland

This is a must do tour and is now rated the No.1 tour in Westport on TripAdvisor. We also have a Westport Pub Tour on a Tuesday afternoon and a Westport Food Tour on a Thursday afternoon. A Westport Walking Tour is sure to enhance your visit to Westport.
