Did you ever wonder why Moroccan tea is poured from a height? In Morocco, the tea is poured from a height of about one meter. That is quite dangerous, considering it is nearly boiling at the time of pouring. So why do the Moroccans do this? Aesthetics? It is quite pretty but not the only reason. The second reason is a more practical one, that is, to cool down the tea. This too, is not the main reason, for the pouring custom.

So, what is the core reason, you ask? And the answer is: to facilitate digestion! What the h double hockey sticks am I talking about? When we boil water for tea, the tea loses some of its oxygen in the process, which can make it difficult for the stomach to digest, especially if the tea is slightly acidic. By pouring from high, we oxygenate the tea so much that bubbles appear when the water reaches the glass.
