The Scandola Nature Reserve, located in the northwest of Corsica, is one of the most spectacular and special reserves in the Mediterranean. The reserve was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983 thanks to its ecological value, its unique beauty, and the efforts to preserve its special nature.
The reserve is known for its red basalt cliffs, which create spectacular rock formations, natural caves and rock arches that stretch to the sea. The cliffs rise above clear turquoise waters and are filled with secluded coves.
The reserve area is rich in underwater life, including fish species, rare corals and unique marine flora. You will also find here rare birds such as Eleanor's hawks, seagulls and herons, nesting between the cliffs.
Scandola Reserve is only accessible from the sea, which preserves nature in its pristine state. Rowing in the area allows you to enjoy the unique view of the rock walls, the sea caves and the isolated sand bays.
