Twice a year, on very exclusive two dates at a very specific street in our city.

Only on those two unique dates, and only if the weather is just right, the sun sets in just the perfect angle between the old and crumbling buildings of our city. The sun sends off its last rays of the day, breaching in to our streets and painting them in warm red colors, conquering the city for a few moments.

I came across this phenomenon called Manhattanhenge in the streets of New York City. An astrophysicist calculated that because the NYC's roads are mostly straight, twice a year the sun sets in perfect harmony with the grid of those streets. Today tens of thousand fill those streets of NYC to watch this beautiful moment.

When I saw this, I was sure this could be duplicated in TLV.

I calculated that, theoretically, there is one street that the sun might align with perfectly. I wrote down the date and crossed my fingers.

I showed up that day, in just the right moment to fined this perfect moment.

Tel Aviv Henge

פעמיים בשנה, בתאריכים מאוד מיוחדים, ברחוב מאוד ספציפי בעיר.

רק בשני התאריכים הייחודיים הללו, ורק אם מזג האוויר מושלם, השמש שוקעת בדיוק בזווית המדויקת בין הבניינים הישנים והמתפוררים של דרום העיר. קרני אור השמש האחרונות לאותו יום חודרות לרחובות, צובעות אותם בצבעים אדומים חמים וכמו כובשות את העיר לכמה רגעים.

נתקלתי לראשונה בתופעה הזו בעיר ניו יורק, שם היא נקראת Manhattanhenge. אסטרופיזיקאי מהעיר מצא כי מכיוון שהכבישים של ניו יורק ברובם ישרים, פעמיים בשנה השמש שוקעת בהרמוניה מושלמת עם מבנה הרשת של אותם רחובות. כיום עשרות אלפים ממלאים את הרחובות ניו יורק כדי לצפות ברגע היפה הזה.

כשראיתי זאת, הייתי בטוח שאפשר לחזות בתופעה זהה גם בתל אביב.

לפי החישובים שעשיתי, תיאורטית, היה אמור להיות רחוב אחד שהשמש עשויה להתיישר איתו בצורה מושלמת. רשמתי את התאריך והחזקתי את אצבעותיי.

באותו יום הופעתי במקום, בדיוק ברגע הנכון לצפות ברגע הזה.

"The reality is, 34 percent of women feel afraid while exercising alone, according to a survey from Wearsafe Labs; 50 percent of women admit to being too afraid to walk or run at night in their own neighborhoods, a Gallup poll found; and 11 percent of women prefer to exercise in a gym because they don't feel comfortable exercising outside, a survey by Stop Street Harassment reported. For what it's worth, only four percent of men experience harassment while running, compared to 43 percent of women, according to a survey by Runner's World.
That fear isn't stopping women from running, but they are going to great lengths—beyond the obvious smart choices, like running without music, alerting people as to when and where they're running, and running where it's light and busy—to feel more prepared and safer while pursuing what they love.
In a recent Twitter thread started by TV and comic book writer Amanda Diebert, women copped to carrying everything from their keys between their knuckles and r**e whistles to knives and even guns in certain areas. That may sound extreme, but it's hard to argue against their concerns in light of the headlines."
