Rav Yosef Zvi Rimon, one of the leading rabbis of the Dati Leumi community, is Nishmat’s Posek and teaches an amazing class at Nishmat. Take a listen to what he noticed while on a recent trip to America which is why he strongly recommends Liba at Nishmat as a seminary, especially now.

Last week, we celebrated the yartzeit of our dear Posek, Rabbi Yehuda Herzl Henkin z"l.
Rabbi Sperling spoke of Rabbi Henkin's greatness in Torah, which he acquired through great effort and diligence and through constant involvement in Torah study at every single moment.
As someone who did not study for years in a certain yeshiva except with his great-grandfather Rabbi Henkin z"l, his way of learning was very innovative and without 'preconceived ideas' about how certain issues 'should' be studied. Besides for being a Torah giant, Rabbi Henkin was dedicated to "ma'aseh", action. His Torah was connected to piskei halacha, to the connection of the Torah from above with the world below. The Rabbi and Rabbanit made aliyah to Beit Shean to contribute to Am Yisrael and later founded the midrasha to meet the great need of the generation for Torah study for women.
Rav Sperling read from Rabbi Henkin's powerful introduction to one section of his responsa, Shu"t Bnei Banim, in which he lays out his learning process when answering halachic questions. A process full of thought, creativity, meticulousness, full awareness of the world we live in, and immense humility.

"The highlight of each meeting with the Glaubachs was witnessing the way Miriam and Felix looked at each other with a glint of mischief mixed with romantic, respectful and loving devotion."
Rabbanit Atara Eis reflects on the legacy of Dr. Felix Glaubach, z"l, who passed away on the first night of Chanukah.

This week, we said goodbye to Dr. Felix Glaubach, z”l. In 2006, Dr. Glaubach gifted his wife and partner-in-everything, Miriam, with a remarkable Mother’s Day gift; he founded Nishmat’s Miriam Glaubach Center, to bring yoatzot halacha to the shores of the United States. He intuited the need fo...

Is the mitzvah of the Chanukiah in the preparation or the actual lighting? 🤔 The Gemara (Shabbat 21b) teaches that while the actual lighting is the mitzvah, the preparation also plays a crucial role in the lighting process. Watch Nishmat Dean Rabbanit Atara Eis offer one explanation why the Gemara bothered to record the "underdog" opinion that the preparation matters. 🕎💫

NISHMAT and NISHMAT'S Miriam Glaubach Center (MGC) mourn the passing of MGC's visionary benefactor,

Dr. FELIX GLAUBACH,
Ephraim Fischel Aryeh ben Baruch z"l

who passed yesterday, at the age of 93.

Dr. Glaubach z”l was a giant of Jewish philanthropy, transforming the landscape of American Jewish Life by introducing Yoatzot Halacha to the American Jewish world in 2006, by establishing the Miriam Glaubach Center. Envisioning a time when every Jewish community would employ one, Felix and Miriam set out to educate and certify women in the United States as Yoatzot Halacha in 2011.

Thanks to his enduring partnership, today Miriam Glaubach Center Yoatzot Halacha serve in over 50 institutions in 25 communities throughout North America.

Yesterday, Nishmat students were deeply moved by a heartfelt talk from Stephen Flatow, who shared the inspiring legacy of his daughter, Alisa Flatow z”l.

Alisa, a former Nishmat student, was tragically killed in a terrorist attack in 1995.

In his powerful words, Stephen reminded us of Alisa's love for Israel and Torah:

“I say, ‘Alisa, things happen that we don’t understand… We don’t understand why we encouraged you to come back to Israel over and over again. We don’t understand why your bus was picked out of all the others that day to be attacked by the bomb.

But this I do understand: because you were in Israel, living among the people you loved, studying the Torah you loved - this time you were in the right place.”

May Alisa’s memory inspire us all to seek our own “right place” in life and in faith.

🌟 On Monday evening, Nishmat proudly hosted our annual celebration of Sigd, an Ethiopian Jewish holiday. The dining hall was transformed into a vibrant space showcasing art and exhibits highlighting the Maayan students and the Ethiopian Jewish community.

Families and alumnae of the Maayan Program (Nishmat’s Ethiopian Women’s Program) gathered for a delicious kosher Ethiopian feast, followed by inspiring speeches from Nishmat and community leaders. Afterwards, Maayan students performed a very funny yet deeply meaningful original play about the Ethiopian-Israeli experience.

The celebration continued (without the men!) with a lively dance performance from the students, which transitioned into an unforgettable dance party for the entire midrasha.

Sigd, celebrated on the 29th of Cheshvan, is a day for Ethiopian Jews to engage in communal introspection, repentance, and a longing for the return to Zion. It marks the renewal of the covenant between the Jewish people, God, and His Torah.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in making this special evening unforgettable!

Last week we celebrated a day 9 years in the making. The graduation of our Miriam Glaubach Center's Yoatzot Halacha. It was an unprecedented day of Torah and celebration in Yerushalayim. The energy in the room was palpable as rabbanim, teachers, family and friends celebrated our Yoatzot—dynamic leaders who have dedicated countless hours toward strengthening the observance of Taharat Hamishpacha across the globe.
