Hanukkah Sameach
We had a great week exploring from Tel Aviv to Ceasarea and Rosh HaNikra.
Galilee and the Golan, Dead Sea and Masada, and of course, Jerusalem
Great jeep tour and discovering antiquities at the sifting project.
Did let dome rain get us down.
Now it's time for Shabbat and recharging our batteries for next week.
Shabbat Shalom
Yesterday the sun came out and we had a great time exploring Masada, riding camels and then floating in the Dead Sea.
Today we start to discover Jerusalem.
What an amazing and surprising day.
We started out the day in the pouring rain with a lot of fog and miserable visibility.
A lot of flexibility and a great visit to the Olive Oil factory in the Golan.
We had indoor plans all lined up and then everything cleared up so we went up Mt. Bental and enjoyed the views and the history.
Followed by a great jeep tour and a wonderful dinner.
Just spent three wonderful days touring with two lovely couples from North Dakota.
We covered a lot of ground - visiting the Ceasarea Aqueduct, Mt. of the Beatitudes, Ancient boat at Ginossar and Magdala.
We then spent two days exploring the Old City of Jerusalem and more - ending up at the Machane Yehuda market enjoying the sights and smells and flavors of the city.
Thanks for allowing me to share your Israel experience.
Another beautiful day to share Jerusalem with new friends.
It has been over 16 months since we have had tourists in Israel. The professional, licensed tour guides (over 6000) have been forced into unemployment because of government restrictions.
We just want to go back to work - not looking for handouts our favors - just the opportunity and the right to work. But the country decided to ban tourists -- in the meantime the lines at the airport of Israelis flying all over the world are endlessly long - and what will they bring back with them.
So no tourists - no work - and now the government is cutting stipends and unemployment benefits.
Today we demonstrated at the airport asking for the government to open up the country. Almost 100 vehicles drove together from Latrun to the airport where we joined many other guides asking for the right to work.
Wishing all of my friends who celebrate a very Merry Christmas and warm wishes for a New Year of health and happiness and travel.
Hoping to see you here again soon.

You will be amazed at what is possible with preparation, planning and the proper equipment.
Learning all about this in order to help you
If you can't guide then you study.
Starting a course for further specialization in guiding tourists with disabilities.
Celebrating the 7th night of Chanuka
Masada, crowds, wind, cold, haze, poor visibility, blowing sand, cold beaches and still - a wonderful day that was lots of fun.
What a way to end our tour. So glad to have shared this time with new friends from California.
Happy holidays to everyone.
Another wonderful day as we toured more of the Old City of Jerusalem - then headed to Yad VaShem - a somber and sobering experience.
And then to cap off the day - the Machane Yehuda market where we saw the endless varieties of sufganiyot (donuts) and got to sample some very extravagant ideas of what to do with a donut.
Good morning from the King David Hotel.
Off to discover and share more of the amazing city of Jerusalem.
What a wonderful way to celebrate the first day of Chanuka - discovering the Old City of Jerusalem with new friends from the US.
We had so much fun that we forgot to take pictures.
The beauty of Jerusalem as it wakes up and the joy of introducing new friends to this amazing city.
Today was the last day of a wonderful two week tour with new friends from South Carolina.
It was journey of discovery and exploration and wonder.
Thanks so much for letting me share your adventure. Have a safe trip back home and come back to visit us again.
Yesterday we headed north and back to the Golan Heights - we toured Banias, enjoyed the best chocolate ever at DeKarina and then discovered a great vegan restaurant in Kiryat Shmona.
We capped this off by visiting the bird sanctuary at the Hula Valley.
Today we leave the north and explore as we make our way to Tel Aviv.
We started our day with a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee then a drive up to the Golan Heights where we enjoyed the scenery and saw first-hand the strategic importance of this area.
We learned all about olive oil and how to utilize the residue for cosmetics - who would have thought. The drove to the top of Mt. Bental and were able to see Syria.
Then we topped off the day overlooking the Sea of Galilee from the Mt. of Beatitudes enjoying the ever changing views of the Sea.
So many special experiences today.
We visited many sites around the Sea of Galilee -- Tabgha, the Church of Peter's Primacy, Capernaum, baptism in the Jordan River and Magdala.
Such a special day.
After driving up the Jordan Valley we arrived in the beautiful Galilee.
Starting the day with views of the Sea of Galilee.
Today we bid farewell to Jerusalem and head north to discover the Jordan Valley, the Galilee and the Golan.
Jerusalem - we will be back again.
Today we got a very early start and headed to the Judean Desert and to explore Masada.
Now at the lowest spot on Earth, floating on the Dead Sea.
What a wonderful experience.
Our last day of touring in Jerusalem was at Yad VaShem - the Holocaust Museum and Memorial - a difficult day. When we exited the museum the skies had gone from bright and sunny to cloudy and dreary - how appropriate.
Now it's time for Shabbat, time to rest and reflect and get ready for another week of touring as we continue to explore Israel.
Shabbat Shalom
Our day started at Gethsemane, then on to the Israel Museum and then capped at all of experiencing Machane Yehuda market and shopping downtown.
Jerusalem has so much to offer, when is it your turn?
