Today, I had the honor and pleasure of participating in a tour of the Judean hills, traveling the road from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. I followed in the footsteps and learned about the remarkable story of American and Israeli war hero Colonel David “Mickey” Marcus, who volunteered to assist the people of Israel during their time of distress in Israel's War of Independence in 1948. His significant influence helped transform the pre-state local defense forces into an army capable of combating the established invading armies of Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan, and Egypt. Tragically, he was killed in a 'friendly fire' incident.

I extend my gratitude to the fantastic guide, Yehudit Badash and to Akiva Segal for organizing this memorable event.
