In Israel we are taking a collective sigh of relief that IDF special forces and Shin Bet fighters rescued four hostages from captivity in Gaza after eight months.

Noa Argamani, Andrey Kozlov, Shlomi Ziv, and Almog Meir were rescued and in good health after more than 8 months in Hamas captivity. The four were brutally kidnapped from the Nova Music Festival on October 7. We're so happy that they are home.

We pray that the other hostages will be brought home soon.

This evening I was fortunate to speak to the Beit Shalom Jewish Community and Quad Cities Jewish Federation in Davenport, Iowa, about the war in Israel, history, Zionism, anti-Zionism, and antisemitism on social media. It was heartwarming to see my hometown Jewish community coming together to support Israel.

I am safe, but the situation in Israel is dire.

On Saturday, October 7, at 6:30 a.m., Hamas initiated rocket attacks on Israel from Gaza. While such occurrences are regrettably not uncommon, this time was much different that previous attacks.

Hundreds of Hamas terrorists infiltrated Israel, indiscriminately firing upon civilians on the streets, forcibly entering homes, and abducting children, women, and the elderly. They attacked the attendees of a nature rave, shooting them and kidnapping them into the Gaza Strip.

In the past two days, the toll has been devastating, with at least 700 Israelis killed, and 2,300 others suffering injuries as a result of this war.

It is both shocking and heart-wrenching to contemplate that, since the Holocaust, there has not been a day where as many Jews were murdered.

Israel is under attack. It's a difficult, overwhelming, and scary time for the country. Please keep the IDF soldiers, kidnapped citizens, and families of murdered victims in your thoughts.

🚨*8:00am, October 8, 2023 (IL time) update*🚨

- *October 8* - Mortar shells fired from Lebanon towards Israel's north

- Since 6:30am, *October 7* (IL time), there has been an incessant barrage of rockets - over 3,200 (and counting) - fired towards Israel from the Gaza Strip. Direct hits in central and southern Israel.
- Palestinian terrorists infiltrated into southern Israeli territories by land, air and sea in a number of different locations, including into many civilian communities.
- Over 1,800 injured. At least 300 civilians murdered including Magen David Adom Paramedics, Israeli firefighters and security forces. At least 345 in critical condition. ן
- IDF confirms at least 26 soldiers died during battles in southern Israel.
- Israeli Security forces still searching for terrorist infiltrators in southern Israel
- Dozens of Israeli civilians abducted by Hamas terrorists and taken into Gaza
- All the hostages from Be'eri and Ofakim were released.
- IDF is targeting terrorist outposts in Gaza.
- Police have gained full control of the Sderot Police station after a battle of approximately 20 hours, during which about 10 armed terrorists were shot.

We reaffirm our support for the people of Israel and Israel's right to defend its civilians against this war crime.
