REFLECTION OF THE DAY: YOUR LOVE STRENGTHENS ME.
Luke 6, 27-38 “Love your enemies.”
In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus gives us a task that should be easy, but it is one of the most difficult to accomplish. The important thing here is that as human beings created by love and with love, we have the ability to give ourselves completely to the love of our fellow man; yes, to that one who was created with the same love, just like me.
“Bless him who curses you,” Jesus tells us, and what is the first thing we do when a someone crosses our path? We curse them and on many occasions, we get angry instead of putting temperance into practice, which helps us control our negative emotions, for the common good. “Give to the one who asks you” and do it with love so that when he doesn’t pay you back, you won’t get angry or curse, and your attitude will be one of gratitude because you were able to help someone who had less than you, without demanding anything from them, and so, you won’t lose the love you have for that person. “Do not judge and you will not be judged, do not condemn and you will not be condemned; forgive and you will be forgiven.”
Truly, we should see life as the opportunity that it is, to do things well, to imitate Jesus Christ, to know that we are at the service of our brothers considering that we will be measured with the same measure with which we measure, Jesus tells us. Are we ready? Have we done a good job with our brothers? Do we have God’s mercy in our favor? Are we clear about the direction of our life, of our goodness, of our understanding of the things of the Father?
Loving those who hurt us, those who harm us, those who hate us, is a sign that we understand forgiveness, we bear witness that we know the Word of God and that we follow the steps of Jesus in unconditional love; just like the love that he has for us.
Let us be extraordinary!: let us love our enemies, let us do good and give without expecting a reward! Let our integrity be extraordinary so that we know ourselves to be children of the Almighty, because he is always good and merciful. Let us be an example of virtue and goodness, or at least let us try, let our path bear abundant fruit in understanding, tolerance, service, forgiveness and above all: love!
Today's purpose: May my search for happiness be strengthened by your love so that I can forgive and love my brothers as you love me.
