: Our Recommendation for a Meaningful Visit

Marking a year since the events of October 7 and the start of Operation Iron Swords, we’re taking this time to reflect. If you’re looking for a meaningful tour that resonates with the strength and resilience of those who came before us, we recommend a visit to Beit Hagdudim Museum.

This museum, located on a scenic hill in Avichail with views over the Hefer Valley and Sharon Plain, was established by veterans of the Jewish battalions of World War I. It tells the story of Jewish heroism and volunteering, from the formation of the battalions to the courageous contributions of the Jewish community in WWII.

"Beit Hagdudim" was inaugurated in 1961, with President Yitzhak Ben-Zvi and Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion attending. An additional wing, showcasing WWII-era contributions, was opened in 2009, and in 2017, a new display honored 100 years since the battalions' formation.

Sunday to Thursday, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM (advance booking for groups)
Fridays (for groups over 30): by appointment only
