Happy 75th birthday, Israel! The 5th of Iyyar in 5708 ( May 14, 1948) was not the START of something special, but the CONTINUATION of something special. That something special was the story of the Jewish people, a story brutally paused by the Romans in the year 70.

But we never forgot about our homeland.

We never let it stray far from our minds and hearts.

In 1897, we took a step forward to returning, with the First Zionist Congress.

In 1917, another step forward, with the Balfour Declaration.

In 1947-1949, another step forward, with the Partition Plan and the War of Independence.

And today? We're a thriving, raucous, exciting, and inspirational country.

Today on Israel's Remembrance Day (Yom HaZikaron), we remember the brave Jewish men who mounted the gallows in Acre Prison, as they fought for the creation of a Jewish state, against the mighty British empire.

Thank you, Dov Gruner, Avshalom Haviv, Meir Nakar, and the rest of these Jewish heroes. On Tuesday night/Wednesday, we will be celebrating our 75th Independence Day (Yom HaAtzma'ut) because of you.

We'll be livestreaming the Incoming Tour Professionals protest at Azrieli Junction in Tel Aviv as of 11:30 Israel time (4:30 Eastern, 1:30 Pacific). This government must either allow tourists in the country, or they should compensate us for closing our source of livelihood.

Covid is going to be part of our lives for the foreseeable future. We know how to do tourism safely. Let us do our jobs!

Preparing a walking tour in Jerusalem's Talbiyeh neighborhood. This is the former Hansen Lepers Hospital, founded by the Protestant community of Jerusalem in the late 19th century. It's now a home for graphic designers and other artists, some of whom are associated with the Bezalel Institute of Art.

In these pictures, we see the entrance, the courtyard, the cisterns, and a pomegranate.
