Galilee Today Alternative Tours

Galilee Today Alternative Tours In the first years after the establishment of the Israeli state, around 480 villages were destroyed. We would love to hear from you.

Alternative Tourism in the Galilee
See the other side of the Galilee - destroyed villages of 1948, unrecognized villages on confiscated lands, and understand the past and the present of the Palestinians. Whenever Palestine is mentioned today, most people think of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, and tend to forget that there was (and still remains) a rich Palestinian existence on the land now cal

led Israel. The residents of these villages either became refugees outside of the current Israeli borders or became internal refugees - citizens of the State of Israel yet prevented to return to their original lands and villages until this very day. Inside Israel there are about 1.2 Million Palestinian citizens of Israel who live under Israeli rule which discriminates against them in areas ranging from the confiscation of lands, employment rights, opportunities for education, living conditions, and much more. If you want to learn more about Palestinian history and Israel's attempts of its erasure, come to Galilee Today Alternative Tours and let us take you to see the remains of houses, schools, sites of worship and graveyards. Let us take you to the unrecognized Bedouin villages, whose people are holding on to their lands despite the fact that Israel has cut them off from water, electricity and basic infrastructure. Learn about Land Day, the Druze residents of the Golan, and current Palestinian life in Israel. The goal of this page is to reach as many people as possible and to offer updated information, but also to use it as a guestbook. To all of you out there who have been on one of our tours: tell us about your experience and post some pictures!

The residents of Moshav Ya'ad in the north tour together with the descendants of the displaced people of the Palestinian village of Mi'ar, which Ya'ad was built on parts of its land. During the tour, voices are heard from the Jews about their willingness to acknowledge the right of return. The Palestinians want to live side by side with the Jews and are mainly looking for recognition. Watch the last speaker, which indicates the intensity of meetings and tours of this kind.

Rona Sela’s film“Looted & Hidden” delves into the history of Palestinian photography and cinema archives that were looted by Israeli soldiers and civilians during the 1948-49 Nakba and the 1982 siege of Beirut. Constructed as a film-essay told through a series of narrated letters exchanged between Sela and Palestinians who share a connection with the stolen material, the film brings to life a rich visual archive Israel has sought to hide from public view. The documentary unfolds against a rolling backdrop of images unearthed through years of researching Israeli military archives and sheds light on a rarely scene dimension of Palestinian struggle against erasure.

in spite of more than 69 years of occupation, in spite of many years of systematic discriminating policy to change its face and heart the Galilee still an integral part of Palestine. a visit to Nazareth, Akka, Sakhnin and many other towns and villages beside the destroyed villages from 1948, is enough to prove that.

Amjad Alqasis: As Palestinian human rights activists and organizations, we must be more careful in the way we articulate reality through the terminology we use. We have to control our own discourse, to challenge the Israeli narrative's local and international dominance.

Sam Bahour about Palestinians in Israel.

Palestinian citizens of Israel are its Achilles’ heel; they refuse to become Zionists, refuse to leave Israel, and refuse to vanish into thin air. And, increasingly, they are refusing to remain silent.

Jonathan Cook's latest Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu took to social media to apologise for last year’s notorious election-day comment, when he warned that "the Arabs are coming out to vote in droves" – a reference to the fifth of Israel’s population who are Palestinian.

Naftali Bennett likes to tweet that he’s “the education minister of all Israeli children.” But the decision to give Arab teachers’ colleges in the north only about half the funding per student compared to other teachers’ colleges casts doubt on that statement. Arab students already suffer budgetary discrimination in elementary and high school, and now this discrimination is being extended to higher education.

In addition, Adalah also maintained that the transfer of funds for the improvement of housing facilities in the Arab communities in Israel is not a privilege to be earned but rather a partial correction for historic discrimination.

The Tantura massacre in May 1948, committed by Haganah forces just days after the declaration of the State of Israel, is not only one of the worst massacres of 1948, but its cover-up is also, in itself, a story, showing us just how effective silence can be in obscuring crimes against humanity. - See more at: http://mondoweiss.net/2016/03/the-tantura-massacre-of-1948-and-the-academic-character-assassination-of-teddy-katz/ .XJeqGLiC.dpuf
