There's nothing like a little trip back to the home country for a chance to indulge in some tasty treats. This port was calling to us and we responded in kind. For some, it's a sweet delight and for others it's simply cough syrup. How do you feel about Portugal famous beverage?

History can teach us 1001 things about human beings’ ability to ferment and ‘invent’ wine. Wine has been poured at banquet tables of kings from Persia to the Peloponnesians for millennia and has inspired poets and playwrights abound. Indeed, our relationship to these glorious grapes, is a mix between humans and nature, and the infinite potential when the two work in harmony.

While my curiosity looks back to history for inspiration and stories that teach us of the human spirit, along with a nice glass of Cabernet, I like to look forward to a fruitful future as well. Now it is the time of harvest and the labor of love must be carried out in the vineyards so that tomorrow we may drink well of the work we do today.

As the summer heat abates, and the fall harvest awaits, our tours are coming back online. I cannot wait to host my guests again, and raise a glass or two as we explore together, both the history of days gone by, and the mystery of what will be, for Israel’s bright future. Come walk with us!

Wine is there when we wish to celebrate
yet in these challenging times, we must focus on our children, and lead them onward, in the ways of our people.

So much more than a wine tour! Amir guided us through the streets and alleys of Zikron Yaakov with his vast knowledge of wine, historical facts, stories and surprises! He was engaging and entertaining, all while being considerate of our comfort (standing in shade, providing beverages, restroom stops). He chose an absolutely charming and delicious winery for us to enjoy tasting several wonderful wines. His timing and pace of the tour was perfect!

We look forward to touring with him again and highly recommend Amir.

Wine has been at the backbone of Israel’s modern culinary culture since the first Jewish communities planted vines in 1882. Likewise, King David brought the tribes together around 3000 years ago, and Wine provided a foundation for the cash crops that would allow for a kingdom to arise thereafter. Whether you’re at the Shabbat dinner table, or at one of the wine bars popping up around Israel, this beverage has been the backbone of our drinking culture, and whether we drink in celebration, and to enjoy, or from a place of sorrow and our current melancholy, this beverage, this grape, this wine lifestyle has been there throughout the long arch of Jewish history and culture.
A glass of wine, and Israel is so much more than just a simple pour. Here we toast life and drink to a heritage that goes back thousands of years.
Lchayim.

Raise a glass with us as we celebrate Israel’s birth, and honor the nation that rises to face the challenges our enemies throw at us. The Jewish people have survived for over three millennia, from slavery in Egypt to Hamas terror, and we have risen from the ashes, time and time again.
Our finest hours are still ahead.
Yom Atzmaut Sameach
Happy Birthday Israel!!

Many blessings to the Hebrews and Shebrews
as we welcome the Passover holiday once again.
With wine in the glass
we toast to life
and celebrate new friends at the table.
As we wrestle with a sense of cheer in our heart,
and sorrow for their absence
for those in captivity we still mourn.

Let the freedom of the Passover
bring us into a brighter tomorrow.

As the spring season is upon us,
and we have relaunched our wine tours
to welcome new guests and old friend alike,
we take pause as the Shabbath approaches.

Our tours aim to pay homage
to the history, to the wine, to the land,
and to those who have fallen along the way.

Indeed, it is not quite a time for rejoicing,
and our hearts are still heavy with sorrow,
yet still we raise a glass in defiance,
as we have done throughout the millennia
to honor our people’s existence,
to remember where we have journeyed,
And look forward to brighter days ahead.

A shabbat shalom to you my siblings,
And to my cousins,
let peace be the path that unites us.

There are new wines, and new wine-makers popping up all over Israel in this very exciting time for our industry. At the same time, there are ancient grapes that are being discovered and reclaimed. They have names like Dabouki, and Jandani and are an exciting journey onto themselves, as flavors and grapevines from the wild are being re-introduced to the vineyards and modern wine making techniques, of Israel’s burgeoning wine scene.
Indeed, it is the story of itself, the ancient and the modern coming together in a surreal dance that we call home. The ancient and the modern, the wild and the domesticated grapes fill our glasses with sweet nectar, while the conversation around the table, fills our mind and our hearts with stories and inspiration.

In these strange days, as we mourn and celebrate alike, let us honor the duality of our powerful nature, as an ancient nation reborn.

Our tours seek to capture this duality, and inspire our guests with stories of old and wines of new. I hope you’ll join us as we go ‘Walking with Wine’ around and storytelling with a glass in hand and guide by your side.

This year as we raise a glass to freedom from Pharoah, we all feel the sting in our heart, and the empty seat at our table. It is bittersweet to celebrate the Passover holiday this year, maybe more than ever, as we seek the comfort of community around the Seder table. The Jewish people have risen in the face of darkness before, and we will surely rise to the challenge that Gd has put before us. I pray, I hope,
I drink to freedom.

Surely the best part of these wine festivals is the people we meet, though the abundance wine isn’t half bad either. 😉
A mutual friend and fellow guide, the distinguished Yoav Biller had suggested I reach out and make friends with a fellow Wine Guide, and gentleman @הזקןוהיין.
It was a treat to meet someone who shares my passion for our field, and for the wines of Israel that we celebrate. It was a friendly reminder that competition can also be collaboration, and that we rise together. Mostly, it was fun to drink with a new friend and celebrate L’Chaim in style.

I pray for better days, and I raise a glass to my new friend, to the wine makers here in Israel, and to the wine tours that I hope to host in the months ahead.

The wine event in Tel Aviv was a two day extravaganza of all things wine and drinking culture of Israel. During such a challenging time, it was truly a treat to raise a glass to life, and to see colleagues and friends from around the country.
The pictures below reflect a few of our favorites that we wish to incorporate into our tours in the coming weeks and months ahead.
Indeed our ‘walking with wine’ tour will be re-launching quite soon (we’ll let you know), and while the political realities hamper our once busy schedule, we continue to pray for our hostages, we hope for a positive outcome to a horrific war, and we drink to remember, and never to forget.
Shabbat shalom and good wine in your glass.

Spring has arrived, and a new season is upon us. The flowers open with a hope for better days ahead. Sometimes we must raise a glass and say Lchayim as part of our resistance, and smile in the face of our enemies, with glasses raised high, ‘To Life!’

A delegation of scientists knocked on my door and asked me to guide them with a 6-cups tasting tour. I was up for a wonderful challenge as these neurobiologist and brilliant scientists kept me on my toes with great questions and inquisition. Indeed, working with an audience like this from around the world, living here in Israel, working towards knowledge and wisdom in their respective fields, reminded me of the power of taking people out of the laboratory in their case, or out of the office, and into the realm of travel.
I enjoy making strangers into friends and turning office trips into something special. That is my job as your host and we will do it well when you come and visit us.
Until then…. L’chayim
