This image left us breathless.
This table in a Cafe in Tel Aviv, right outside of Habima national theater, is reserved. It’s been reserved for 298 days, since October 7th, for Shiri and Yarden Bibas and their two beautiful redheads babeboys Ariel and Kfir.

This graffiti says, "I'm not an only child because all of Am Yisrael are my brothers". Never have truer words been written! Like any family, we argue, frequently passionately! Before October 7 some members of the family weren't speaking with others, or were only shouting. But over the last nine months we've all taken a deep breath, looked inside, and remembered that we're family, even if we still don't always see eye to eye.

What is Israeli food?
This seemingly simple question guides us along our food tours. But there's really only one food that is 100% native Israeli: sabich! Based on the foods Iraqi Jews would eat cold on Shabbat (when Jewish tradition forbids cooking), sabich typically consists of eggplant, hard boiled egg, tahini, amba (a sauce made of fermented unripened mangoes) and a variety of fresh vegetables all stuffed in a pita.

We saw these signs with the four rescued hostages at the rally in Hostage Square on Shabbat. The writing on the bottom of the signs, which is a play on a famous Israeli song by Shalom Chanoch, says

"How good it is that you came home."

We agree! It's the best thing in the world.
We're longing for 120 more hostages to come home, too.

What a wonderful Saturday afternoon graffiti tour in Florentine, TLV. It was a pleasure showing the young leaders from Temple Emanu-El of Closter, NJ all of the powerful graffiti in the neighborhood. And thanks to J² adventures. for organizing everything.
