Agra is a world-known city located on the banks of the River Yamuna in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh. It was once the capital of the Mughal Empire from 1526 to 1658. The city is the home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World, Taj Mahal. It is a mausoleum built for the wife of the Mughal emperor, Shahjahan. Apart from Taj Mahal, it houses two more UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Agra Fort and
Fatehpur Sikri. Other tourist attractions include Akbar’s Tomb, Diwan, I’timad-Ud-Daulah, Chini Ka Rauza, Jama Masjid, Mankameshwar Temple, Sur Sarovar Bird Sanctuary, Taj Museum and many more. The city reflects the Islam culture in its cuisine as well. Agra Petha, Samosa, Kachori, Korma, and Mughalai Biryani are some popular delicacies. Winter months from October to March are perfect to enjoy the city.
