When I am stuck at home and yet my soul is crying to go on a long long ride, on some lonely picturesque highway, Ajit Hairisinghani has been my friend in need. I have read his 'One Life to Ride' several times now and this motorcycle travelogue works like an anti-depressant for me.

It is so exciting to find his second book- 'The Living Road'! I desperately needed a break from moto-vlogs for a few days now. See you later guys, I am off to Bhutan with Mr. Harisinghani!

Maithon Dam is only 22 kms from where I live in Asansol. The 17 km ride on the NH19 and the rest of the route through the lush green hilly range of Maithon offers an excellent short ride, whenever I am in the mood for a ride (that's all the time actually) but don't have time and affordability for a long ride.

Good mood, bad mood, tension, stress, anxiety, whatever the mental status, a motorcycle ride is either the way to celebrate or the way to release mental load. Most of the time we riders don't even need any reason to ride......coz' we are always in the mood to ride, aren't we?

So basically, I ride to Maithon atleast once a week, sometimes even thrice a week. Be it on my Jawa 42 or my '97 model Yamaha RX135, everytime it's a new experience.

Cruising on the 42 has a calming effect, it's smooth and beautiful. It's like listening to Yanni, almost takes you to a state of trance. Riding the RX135 is like listening to Hariharan in a live concert....it's raw power, agility and punchy performance is simply invigorating.

Today's evening ride to Maithon was surprisingly refreshing! Stunning cloudscapes- shades of blues and grays and orange and white, every tone of colour competing among each other to show off its splendour! And finally a mesmerising sunset! Nature was in it's full glory today and I, my friends, was cruising on my beautiful Jawa 42 on NH19, enjoying the some of the best, most beautiful moments of my life. Yes, this is exactly why I ride 😇

NIGHT SKY PHOTO TOUR | MATHA FOREST PURULIA | TREK TO MATHA BURU TOP

This trip is much more than any one kind of adventure- riding my Jawa 42 to Matha Forest in Ajodhya Hills, staying in a mud hut in a beautiful natural setting, shooting the Milky Way and Star Trails in a pitch dark forest area in the middle of the night and then hiking to the top of Matha Buru hill the next morning. Yes, its a long video, but we can't compromise on adventure, can we?
