Kondavedu Fort Bicycle Ride

A quick bicycle ride to Kondavedu fort along with Doctor and Friends fitness club. Kondavedu fort Ghat road is recently widened and improved to good quality tarmac road that every cyclist dream of. It's a 5.5km long,17 hair pin curve's, 210mt elevation gain, with 3.8% gradient climb. Thanks to Govt. of Andhra Pradesh and Archeology department for the recent developments at Kondavedu fort. Bicycle touring stated this season with long pending routes Shiradi & Bisle ghats. Both the ghats are closed for vehicle traffic due to road concrete white topping work and we were lucky to ride with out any pollution. Its was raining continuously most of the times, hence did not used DSLR and managed to capture with mobile phone camera. We were a team of three Harsha, Murali & Rafi. Thanks Sreeharsha Aithal M for transportation logistics, Thanks Murali Munivenkatappa for making route. Thanks Ramprashanth Ajjakana for the latest info on road conditions and forest check post details, that help us to plan the awesome route.

Shaheera Attar Cyclist

A National Level Cyclist Is Fighting Both Spinal Injury & Poverty with Inspiring Confidence.. Four years ago she bagged the silver medal at the 17th National Road Cycling Championship held in Muzzafarpur, Bihar. This was followed by other national level events held in Maharashtra and Karnataka. Today, the 22-year-old is a national-level cyclist and has 20 medals in her name.

“During a state-level event in Belgaum, two people ran over me on a bike,” she remembers. The accident led to a severe spine injury and the surgery involved getting a rod inserted in her spine. Shahira was bedridden for four months after that and it has been difficult for her mother to pay for her treatment and medicines.

No official help
Ms. Attar alleges that after the accident, neither the Karnataka Cycling Association nor the Department of Sports and Youth Empowerment volunteered to help her.

A two days solo bicycle tour from Coimbatore to Madikere via Dodabetta peak, Ooty, Bandipur forest.
Started early morning from Coimbatore, reached Mettupalyam forest check by 5am. Waited till 6am and then started ride, initially it was completely dark and no other vehicle moment. Reached Daodabetta peak by noon and had a yummy Lunch at Ooty. Post lunch continued to ride through Kalahatti downhill and it started raining. It becomes difficult riding downhill due to steep drops, curves and wetness. In between rims getting quite hot, this made me to stop every 200 mt distance. After reaching the forest check post the guard stopped and demanded to ride back to Ooty and he cannot allow me further due to wild life moments. Finally took a bike support to cross the check post and then continued to ride. The Day1 ride end at Nanjangud.

Day2 was almost dry due to end of monsoons. Mysore to Madikere terrain was challenging due to heat and head winds. Finally finished the ride to Madikere and reach back Bangalore by Bus.
