The Outback Experience is your one-stop solution for an incredible holiday that offers you luxurious accommodation, a unique farm experience, birding and adventures in bird photography, unparalleled opportunities in learning about photography through our camps and workshops, exhilarating nature-based activities and a guaranteed good time. The Outback Experience was co-founded and set-up in 2016 by

the Ross family, an Anglo-Indian family from Bangalore who grew up loving nature and wildlife. The Rosses own two farms on the fringes of the Bannerghatta National Park, that were initially just family getaways on weekends. However, they decided to share these two treasures, their knowledge and hospitality par-excellence with the outside like-minded world and thus have opened up their doors to you! The Outback Experience is also one of India's leading kids' camps and photography training companies and our camps and workshops offer exciting learning opportunities for any budding photography or nature enthusiast. Led by award winning wildlife photographer, Phillip Ross, you or your kids are sure to take back a wealth of knowledge with regards to photography and wildlife and take home tons of good photographs all while having a super fun holiday.

This Dussehra vacation, give your child that well earned break from studying and exams and send them out on a wildlife adventure!

We at The Outback Experience will be conducting a Kabini Wildlife Camp from 6th to 8th October, 2024 where we will take your kids to the beautiful forests of Nagarhole, on the banks of the Kabini dam.

On this camp, we will take them on four wildlife safaris and teach them about wildlife photography and animal tracking while also trying to spot some big cats.

This camp is designed for kids between the ages of 10 - 16 years, who are interested in learning about wildlife photography, or just simply want to come and experience the wild.

Limited spots available..

What a lovely frame from our recent tour to Ranthambore by

While it’s hard to tell Tiger cubs apart at a young age just by their appearance, their unique personalities start to show up before long, making them easy to distinguish. Some are timid and in mum’s shadow, some aggressive, constantly challenging and bullying their siblings, and others bold and adventurous, like this one. Just about a year old and fearless, unafraid to leave the safety of his mum, a little ignorant perhaps of the dangers a forest can present to someone so young, we came across him in the early hours of a summer morning, crossing flat open rocky ground bordered with date palm trees, as the radiant golden yellow light of the morning sun glowed over the hill behind him.

Read the story behind this image:

This was pretty a long wait, four nights to be exact, expecting this guy will sit on the space I loved to see him sit and croak. 😅
Day 1 this guy was sitting on hydrangea leaves when I first spotted him 🙂

Day 2 He came and sat on top of a dried up hydrangea 😄

Day 3 He sat on a small set of hydrangea and I didn’t have much smack to shoot and to get a desired angle as it was sitting very close to the wall.

Day 4 The one I have posted🤩🤩

The long wait was fruitful. Went home happy even if I spent most of my bedtime in front of this inch sized friend.💚💚💚😁

Not just human beings, frogs are also offering bouquets to impress and show their love towards their partner.😅😅

When we say we need to protect the forest, do protect small bushes and weeds growing along the roadsides and near your household. These vegetations are home to many endangered and critically endangered amphibians, reptiles, and many other insects.

When we get rid of these plants saying beautifying your locality you are actually destroying their home.

Think small, we need lots of awareness and protection for these tiny creatures who are also playing a major role in our food chain.

What a pretty ‘tiger in its habitat’ image by

Tigress Neelam marking her territory after the early showers. This photo is from my recent trip to Kanha and it’s enchanting forest and grasslands which were so green even during the summer. It had rained the previous night and that morning and so we were unsure of tiger sightings however we were fortunate to spot the majestic tigress. I have recently become quite fond of these animal landscape shots and am obsessed with this photo because of the dreamy effect and the way it captures the forest’s beauty so well.

A smasher of an image by from our tour to Thattekad a few January’s ago 😊

- A secretive inhabitant of the forest , the Srilankan frogmouth.

This odd cryptic-looking bird is the only one of its family in its range. Rather like a cross between an owl and a nightjar, but note wide mouth and proportionally smaller eyes. Intricately mottled and dappled in shades of gray and brown; males are predominantly gray-brown, while females are rufous-toned.

Shot with Nikon Z6 & 200-500
