Bangalore is a beautiful city stereotyped as the “IT capital” and the “pub city”. I migrated to this and in 2002 from North of India. Bangalore comprising of a cosmopolitan crowd, I never had the need to pick up the local language, everyone understands Hindi and the crown in general is quite educated. I have been through all the phases in this city, residing in the CBD, right from primary school to high school to college to the professional world. Every facet of this city fascinates me, be it history, landscape, development, public interactions, the bureaucracy, music events, government organised events, etc etc.
When my relatives from North of India visit Bangalore, its always used as a transit route to Coorg or Ooty or Kodaikanal etc etc. They say Bangalore does not have anything to offer other than the pub culture and being inhabited by the youth in majority. The pub culture is prevalent, we cannot deny that, due to the heritage pubs that still serve, the number of expats, the tourism and the newly hired working crowd dominate the pubs.
Stepping away from that domain as soon as college ended, Poo (a good friend) used to take me, along with a few others to different spots around the city just to sit and relax and be away from the daily humdrum affairs of an urban lifestyle. We covered numerous spots, and all I wanted was to learn how to drive then. After 5 months of chilling, I applied for a job as an interior designer and all the explorations came to a halt.
8 months into work, I learnt an automatic and convinced my parents for a car. When the car came, I never drove it for the first 3 months. During the rainy season, I was forced to take the car to work everyday. Two month of practicing and the highways became my best friends. My explorations resumed, this time in my car, and a different crowd every time.
