Do you want to experience the joy and splendor of Navratri, the nine-night festival of Goddess Durga? Then you should head to Kolkata, the city of joy and culture, where Durga Puja is celebrated with unparalleled enthusiasm and devotion. 🙏

This year, Navratri begins on October 15 and ends on October 24, 2023. During these ten days, you can witness the magnificent pandals (temporary structures) that display the artistic and creative talents of the locals. Each pandal has a different theme and style, and showcases the idols of Durga and her children. 🎨

You can also enjoy the cultural events, delicious food, shopping, and fireworks that make Kolkata a festive paradise. 🎭🍛🎁🎇

Here are some tips to make your Kolkata trip memorable and hassle-free:

- Plan your itinerary in advance and book your accommodation and transport early, as the city gets very crowded during this time. 🗓️
- Wear comfortable clothes and shoes, as you'll be walking a lot to visit different pandals. 🚶‍♀️
- Respect the local customs and traditions, and avoid taking photos of the idols without permission. 📵
- Try the local delicacies like mishti doi (sweet yogurt), rosogolla (spongy cheese balls in syrup), and jhal muri (spicy puffed rice). 😋
- Don't miss the immersion ceremony on the last day of the festival, when the idols are taken to the river and submerged in water. It's a sight to behold! 🌊

So what are you waiting for? Book your tickets to Kolkata ✈️

“Ladies and Gentlemen, before you… the Taj Mahal! ✨😻

I'm adding this photo under the influence of strong emotions because I still can't believe that I literally just saw this miracle with my own eyes 👀🌟 One of the seven modern wonders of the world, so beautiful that it leaves you speechless. It looks painted, unreal... PERFECT! 💖 I'm standing there and picking my jaw up off the floor! It's been a long time since any building made such an impression on me as this one!

The Taj Mahal is actually a mausoleum built by Shah Jahan of the Mughal dynasty, in memory of his prematurely deceased beloved wife. The legend associated with its creation warms hearts, but more about it later in the stories because I need to calm down ❤️‍🔥 Thank you, żyko, for everything you show me 🙏🏻🇮🇳” -

We had the best tour guide for the day. If anyone is coming to Chennai or South India in general then either book with Adieu Travel (crew friends it's the Taj Mahal Tour company we all use - find them on Facebook or drop me a message and I can send you the link) or send a WhatsApp directly to Boopalan (message me and I can send you his number) who is the nicest guy, speaks perfect English and is so knowledgeable and can help put a tour together also for you.

The tour we booked picked us up at 6am and we headed to Mahabalipuram (approx 1 hour from Chennai) first and then onto Pondicherry (approx 2.5 hours from Chennai) and we got back to Chennai at about 5pm. Dependent on how many people go on the tour the price can vary, there were 5 of us and it cost 3820 rupees per person (£40) + tip." - .travel

Is Mahabalipuram now on your travel bucket list? 🤩🧡
