The Power of Positivity and abundance of Positive reinforcement can result in making of a Champion.
Let me try to illustrate –
Daniil Medvedev and Nadal at 2021 Aus Open Final was one of the best and fiercest encounters
in recent years.
Medvedev had all the advantages , he was younger,fitter,agile and Nadal was almost starring at defeat with 1st two sets down.
Medvedev was almost winning the 3rd with a 0-40 on Nadal serve when he lost his balance and lost the thriller in a 5 setter 2-6.6-7, 6-4, 6-4, 7-5.
Winning or Losing is all in the Mind.
One of the primary reason was Nadal being a Champion and was losing got all the Positive reinforcement from the large crowd for every point that he earned, while Medvedev was getting the negative reinforcement from the Crowd. He reminded me of Ivan Lendl very disconnected with the crowd.
Look at the Transformation in Medvedev today ,raking in the Positive reinforcement in abundance getting the crowd involved with every extraordinary shot and reversed the Role play of being 2 sets down to recover and beat again in a thriller with Alex Zverev 5-7,3-6,7-6,7-6,6-3.
What was also nice is Medvedev acknowledged the fact of Positive reinforcement while giving his post-match interview with Jim Courier.
