Alakapuri is situated at Kanjirakolly village, which is located at 60 km from Kannur and 45 km from Taliparamba. The water falls are located between the foot hills of Western Ghats, bordering the Coorg area of Karnataka Evergreen Forests contains 3 phases. First phase is known as Elappara waterfalls; second phase is the famous one and is also known as Alakapuri waterfalls and the third phase contains the biggest water fall in the monsoon season. Also the second stage contains seven stages of shelves of rock. On the both sides of the water fall, hard Rocks look like Salamanders of the forest. The surrounding area of the falls are filled with "Kurinji" which bloom in every 8 years.

On your way Peechi dam, you hit the Orappan rock. From there, kilometre south is Orappankettu. The waterfall here is the prime reason for even building the dam (for which construction began in 1947). The water here was shelved for farming in pre-Independence time when local people actually had no solid concept of a reservoir or check dam. Then, authorities noticed that the local topography suited the construction of a dam.
